Jiangxi Agricultural University is a high-level agricultural university with agricultural advantages, biotechnology as its characteristics, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It has the right to confer doctoral degrees and is one of the first institutions in my country to have the right to confer bachelor's and master's degrees. It is the earliest university in Jiangxi Province to carry out graduate education. It is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, a university jointly built by the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, and a university in the National Central and Western College Basic Capacity Construction Project. The school is located in Nanchang Economic and Technological Development Zone, with a total area of 16,000 acres. The campus is beautiful and the scenery is pleasant. The school has a long history of running schools. The school can be traced back to the Jiangxi Industrial School founded in 1905, which was renamed Jiangxi Higher Agricultural School in 1908. Undergraduate education began with the National Zhongzheng University founded in 1940, renamed Nanchang University in 1949, and Jiangxi Agricultural College was established in 1952. The Jiangxi Communist Labor University was founded in 1958 and renamed Jiangxi Communist Labor University in 1968. In 1969, Jiangxi Agricultural College and Jiangxi Communist Labor University merged. In November 1980, it was renamed Jiangxi Agricultural University. The school has a complete education system. There are currently 17 colleges and 26,000 full-time students. The disciplines cover 9 major categories, including agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, education, and art. There are 6 first-level doctoral programs, 21 first-level master programs, 10 professional degree authorization points, and 61 undergraduate majors. It has 1 key discipline of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, 4 first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province, 11 provincial first-class majors, 13 national first-class undergraduate major construction points, 4 national first-class specialty major construction points, and 9 provincial specialty majors. It has a national experimental teaching demonstration center, 4 national practical teaching bases, 1 virtual teaching and research office of the Ministry of Education, and 5 postdoctoral research mobile stations. The school has a relatively strong faculty. There are more than 1,800 faculty and staff in service, and those with doctoral and master's degrees account for more than 80% of the total number of teachers. There are 101 national talents represented by academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 284 provincial and ministerial talents represented by Jinggang Scholars. There are 1 national teaching team; 19 provincial high-level undergraduate teaching teams; 7 provincial teaching teams; 2 innovation teams of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 1 innovation team of the Ministry of Education; 4 provincial superior scientific and technological innovation teams. The school's scientific and technological innovation system has distinctive characteristics. There is the only national key laboratory for pig genetic improvement and germplasm innovation in the field of live pigs in the country and the first independently established in Jiangxi, as well as the National Engineering Laboratory, the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Joint Laboratory for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, the Engineering Technology Innovation Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Key Laboratory of Forestry and Grassland Bureau (Engineering Technology Center), the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory (Engineering Technology Research Center), the Jiangxi Provincial Major Science and Technology Innovation Platform Reserve Team, the Engineering Laboratory (Research Center), the Key Innovation Center for Industry-Education Integration, the National Collaborative Innovation Center, the Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center and other national, ministerial and provincial scientific and technological innovation platforms 45; it has the only new rural development research institute of colleges and universities in the province; it has 6 humanities and social science research platforms such as provincial key think tanks. The school has made outstanding achievements in running schools. Adhering to the common development of teaching and scientific research, it has achieved excellent results in talent training, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance and innovation, and international exchanges and cooperation. Since its establishment, it has trained more than 370,000 high-quality professionals of various types, and has produced 13 academicians, 17 provincial and ministerial leaders, more than 30 university party committee secretaries and presidents, more than 100 national experts with outstanding contributions, national model workers, national model teachers and other outstanding talents. Most of the graduates have become the backbone of agricultural production, operation, management and technology promotion. The school has established strategic cooperation and scientific and technological cooperation relations with more than 80% of the counties and cities in the province, and has promoted a large number of excellent varieties and modern agricultural technologies with independent intellectual property rights. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, it has won more than 80 scientific research awards at all levels and types. Five disciplines have entered the top 1% of ESI worldwide. It took the lead in achieving breakthroughs in major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation and major national agricultural science and technology projects in Jiangxi Province.
