Jiangxi Metallurgical Vocational and Technical College is a national advanced unit of vocational education, a national demonstration school for vocational education reform, a national pilot college for modern apprenticeship, the first batch of national pilot schools for emergency education of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of cultivation and construction units of the Swiss George Fischer Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Practice Base, and the only full-time public higher vocational college in metallurgy in Jiangxi Province. Founded in 1975, the college has always adhered to the mission of improving the quality of talent training, adhering to the school motto of "unity of knowledge and action, seeking truth and innovation", insisting on the integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and vigorously carrying out the exploration of the talent training model of the Chinese-style apprenticeship system, cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents with comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor, integrating vocational skills, craftsman spirit and humanistic literacy. The college covers an area of more than 900 acres and a construction area of 250,000 square meters. There are 8 teaching departments including the School of Metallurgical Engineering, the School of Manufacturing Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Intelligent Engineering, the School of Business Management and the School of Modern Service, as well as the Department of Ideological and Political Theory Teaching and the Department of Public Courses Teaching. The college fully meets the needs of the country's major strategies for high-quality technical and skilled personnel, serves the metallurgical industry and Jiangxi Province's "2+6+N" industry, adheres to the professional construction concept of "engineering as the main, liberal arts as the auxiliary, and metallurgical characteristics", and has opened more than 40 majors such as steel intelligent metallurgical technology, non-ferrous metal intelligent metallurgical technology, mechatronics technology, numerical control technology, industrial robot technology, mechanical manufacturing and automation, automobile manufacturing and testing technology, software technology, big data and accounting, e-commerce, infant care services and management, etc. Among them, the four majors of steel intelligent metallurgical technology, mechatronics technology, mechanical manufacturing and automation, and materials engineering technology are "national modern apprenticeship pilot majors" approved by the Ministry of Education. The college currently has more than 700 full-time and part-time teachers, including 103 full and associate professors, 348 "dual-qualified" teachers; 15,000 students; and a collection of 400,000 books. The college vigorously implements various modern teaching modes such as project-based teaching and integrated teaching. It has built more than 10 internship and training centers, including CNC training, metallurgical simulation training, auto repair training, electromechanical training, metalworking training, e-commerce and accounting training, and college students' innovation and entrepreneurship incubation bases. It has more than 100 training rooms covering all types of work and majors in the college. At the same time, relying on large enterprises such as China Baowu Steel Group Xinyu Iron and Steel Company, Jiangxi Copper Group Company, Baosteel Desheng, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, etc., more than 60 off-campus large-scale production internship bases have been established.
