Jiangxi University of Science and Technology is a full-time private general undergraduate college with engineering, management and art as the main disciplines and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It has the qualification to issue nationally recognized unified undergraduate and junior college degrees and has the right to confer bachelor's degrees. The school was formerly the Jiangxi Provincial Senior Vocational School founded in 1994. In 1999, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to become a general higher vocational college and was renamed Lantian Vocational and Technical College. In 2005, it was upgraded to a general undergraduate college and renamed Jiangxi Lantian College. In 2009, it was approved as a bachelor's degree-granting institution and was renamed Jiangxi University of Science and Technology in 2012. The school is located in Nanchang, a historical and cultural city in the south of the Yangtze River and the capital of Jiangxi Province, which enjoys the reputation of "Hero City". The campus covers an area of more than 2,000 acres and a building area of more than 900,000 square meters. There is a 33,000-square-meter digital library with a collection of more than 3 million paper books and a total of more than 10 million digital resources. The school currently has more than 30,000 full-time students and more than 2,000 faculty and staff. There are more than 200 on-campus experimental training rooms such as the Automotive Technology Center, with advanced experimental training equipment. The school has a beautiful environment, with complete student activity venues such as athletic fields, gymnasiums, theaters, and concert halls, and wireless network coverage throughout the campus. The school has 14 secondary colleges and a science teaching department, including the School of Artificial Intelligence, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Urban Construction, the School of Management, the School of Finance and Economics, the School of Foreign Languages (International Education), the School of Art and Design, the School of Music and Dance, the School of Medicine, the School of Education, the School of Culture and Media, the Boya International College, the School of Marxism, and the School of Physical Education. There are 51 unified undergraduate majors and 35 unified junior college majors. There are 1 national specialty construction site, 69 Ministry of Education industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects, 5 provincial specialty majors, 1 provincial first-class major, 3 provincial excellent engineer training program projects, 3 provincial professional comprehensive reform pilot projects, 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 provincial talent training model innovation experimental areas, 2 provincial teaching teams, 5 provincial boutique online open courses, 8 provincial first-class courses, 10 provincial scientific research platforms, 7 municipal and departmental scientific research platforms, and 1 provincial postdoctoral innovation practice base. The founder of the school, Yu Guo, was a representative of the 9th, 10th and 11th National People's Congress, and a member of the Standing Committee of the 12th and 13th Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress. He was successively named "China's Top Ten Outstanding Youths", "National Model Workers", "National Self-improvement Models", "National Outstanding Educators", and "Outstanding Builders of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics", and was cordially received by the leaders of the Party and the country many times.
