Jiangxi Vocational College of Art is the only public comprehensive art college in Jiangxi Province, affiliated to the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. Founded in 1951, the college has 10 teaching institutions including the Department of Music, Department of Dance, Department of Drama, Department of Fine Arts, Department of Opera, Department of Comprehensive Arts, Secondary School Department, Basic Department, Ideological and Political Course Teaching Department, and Continuing Education and Training Center; it offers nearly 20 majors. In 2018, the dance performance major was approved as a provincial specialty major, and it cooperated with Nanchang Normal University and Jinggangshan University to open dance studies and dance performance joint training majors; in 2022, the dance performance major and the drama and film performance major were approved for the construction of high-level professional groups in the province. The college has 2 national training bases, 2 provincial training bases, and 2 national demonstration sites for the inheritance and innovation of ethnic culture. Over the past 70 years since its establishment, the college has trained a large number of artistic masters and grassroots literary and art workers with both moral integrity and art, making significant contributions to the prosperity and development of culture and art in Jiangxi and even the whole country. The alumni include Guo Lei, president of Beijing Dance Academy, Gao Xixi, a famous film and television director, Deng Chao, Song Yuncheng, Cheng Su, famous dancers Liu Zhen, Li Chunyan, Zhu Han, Zhang Sun, Tong Weiwei, Zhong Hanqiu, "Plum Blossom Award" winner Chen Li, and Zhou Weilin, an oboe player from Boston, USA. The alumni include Guo Lei, the president of Beijing Dance Academy, Gao Xixi, a famous film and television director, Deng Chao, Song Yuncheng, Cheng Su, famous dancers Liu Zhen, Li Chunyan, Zhu Han, Zhang Sun, Tong Weiwei, Zhong Hanqiu, a famous opera artist, Chen Li, a winner of "Plum Blossom Award", and Zhou Weilin, a Boston oboe player from the United States. The academy currently has 247 full-time teachers, including 75 with senior professional titles, 1 person has won the special government allowance of the State Council, 2 people have been selected into the "Hundreds of Thousands of Talents Project" of the province, and 4 people have been selected into the "Four Batches" of talents in the provincial propaganda, ideology and culture system. At present, the academy is in an important strategic opportunity period of deep transformation and development. Taking the relocation of the new campus as an opportunity, the academy will promote mechanism innovation and teaching reform in accordance with the idea of "optimizing structure, expanding scale, highlighting characteristics, and improving quality", carry out industry-education integration, and school-enterprise cooperation, and strive to build a training base for cultural and artistic talents in Jiangxi, a base for the creation of fine art works, a base for the inheritance and innovation of intangible cultural heritage, a base for cultural and artistic scientific research, and a base for the promotion of cultural tourism image.
