Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general college approved by the Ministry of Education. It is located in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, which has a profound cultural heritage and beautiful natural scenery. The school was founded in 1960. Its predecessor was Jiujiang Shipbuilding Industry School. It was successively affiliated with the First, Third, and Sixth Ministry of Machinery Industry and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. In 1994, it became one of the first pilot schools in the country to hold higher vocational education. In 1999, it was transferred from the former National Defense Science and Technology Commission to the management of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government and upgraded to Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College. Since its establishment, the school has adhered to the school motto of "Virtue and Great Way, Technology and Natural Craftsmanship", carried forward the fine tradition of shipbuilding and military education, insisted on taking root in ships, based in Jiangxi, and facing the world, strengthened party building leadership, deepened reform and innovation, and continuously enhanced adaptability and contribution, and embarked on a distinctive development path serving China's shipbuilding industry and Jiangxi's economy and society. In 2003, it passed the first batch of national talent training level assessment for higher vocational colleges (26 in the country); in 2004, it was identified by the Ministry of Finance as a "basic laboratory college of colleges and universities jointly built by the central and local governments"; in 2007, it became one of the 15 key "National Defense Science and Technology Industry Vocational Education Training Bases" in the country, and in the same year it was identified by the Ministry of Finance as a "Laboratory College of Characteristic Advantageous Disciplines of Colleges and Universities Jointly Built by the Central and Local Governments"; in 2010, it was built into a "National Demonstration Higher Vocational College" (100 in the country), and in the same year it was rated as a "National Key Vocational College in the Machinery Industry"; in 2014, it became the first batch of pilot colleges and universities for the joint training of applied technology undergraduate talents in Jiangxi Province; in 2018, it became a "high-level higher vocational college" that Jiangxi Province focused on supporting; in 2019, it was identified by the Ministry of Education as a "National High-quality Junior College Higher Vocational College" (200 in the country), and in the same year it was successfully selected as a construction unit of "Chinese Characteristic High-level Vocational Colleges" (56 in the country). In January 2023, the provincial government clearly included the establishment of "Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College" as "Jiangxi Vocational and Technical University" in the "Plan for the Establishment of Higher Education Institutions in Jiangxi Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period". In April, through the expert inspection and evaluation of the Provincial Higher Education Evaluation Committee, a new chapter in the talent training of schools in the new era was opened. It has successively won the "Top 50 National Vocational Colleges in Education Effectiveness", "Top 50 National Vocational Colleges in Teaching Resources", "Top 50 National Vocational Colleges in Teaching Management", "Top 50 National Vocational Colleges in Internship Management", "Top 50 Influential Asia-Pacific Vocational Colleges", etc.; it has successively won the honorary titles of "National Advanced Unit of Vocational Education", "National University with Typical Experience in Graduate Employment", "The Third Batch of National Defense Education Characteristic Schools of the Ministry of Education", "National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee", etc.; it has been awarded the title of "Jiangxi Civilized Unit" by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government for ten consecutive terms, and was awarded the "First Jiangxi Civilized Campus", and won the "Seventh Five-Year Plan" Advanced Unit for Legal Education in Jiangxi Province. The school has two campuses, Shili and Lianxi, covering an area of more than 1,700 acres. The campus environment is beautiful and the conditions are excellent. The layout of the Shili campus is neat and rigorous, and the atmosphere is magnificent; the buildings of the Lianxi campus are built on the hillside, simple and elegant. There are 8 secondary colleges and 4 teaching departments, with more than 17,000 full-time students. There are 1 industrial engineering center, 1 production engineering training center, 3 production-education integration development bases and 316 professional experimental training rooms, including 5 national demonstration professional training bases, 3 central vocational education training bases, 1 national scarce talent training base, 25 central and local co-built university laboratories, 15 central financial support for the development of local universities special training bases, etc. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 304 million yuan, the total amount of book resources is more than 2.3 million books, and the total assets are more than 1.5 billion yuan. The school has implemented the talent-strengthening school strategy in depth and was identified by the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee as a "pioneer unit for comprehensive reform of talent development systems and mechanisms in vocational colleges." There are 1,006 full-time teachers, including 1 national Huang Danian-style teacher team, 2 national teaching teams, 2 national teacher teaching innovation teams, 12 provincial teaching teams and teacher teaching innovation teams, 1 national vocational college principal training and cultivation base, 1 national "dual-qualified" teacher training base, 6 provincial master studios, and 4 "dual-qualified" famous teacher studios; there are national talents, national famous teachers, recipients of special allowances from the State Council, national model teachers, national advanced individuals in vocational education, Huang Yanpei outstanding teachers in vocational education, outstanding individuals in national digital campus construction, recipients of special allowances from the provincial government, candidates for the Ganpo Talent 555 Project, young Jinggang scholars, provincial "May 1st Labor Medal" winners, provincial teaching masters, and provincial chief technicians. 146 people have built a high-level "dual-qualified" team with a reasonable structure, excellent quality, and superb business. The school has comprehensively deepened the comprehensive reform of "three-dimensional education" and continuously improved the talent training system of "moral and technical training, and integration of work and study". It has formed ten major groups with ship engineering technology, Internet of Things application technology, and intelligent manufacturing equipment technology as its main features, and coordinated development of multiple categories such as big data technology, construction engineering technology, and new energy vehicle technology. There are currently 53 enrollment majors, 2 national high-level professional groups, 2 provincial high-level professional groups, 5 national demonstration majors, 7 national backbone majors, 2 majors of the Ministry of Education to enhance the ability to serve industrial development, 2 national equipment manufacturing demonstration majors, 8 national defense and military special majors, 5 national mechanical industry characteristics and innovation majors, and 9 majors for joint training of applied undergraduate talents with universities such as East China University of Technology. It presided over the construction of a national vocational education professional teaching resource library, won 6 national teaching achievements and 46 provincial teaching achievement awards; won 1 first prize for national excellent textbooks, 16 of the first batch of "14th Five-Year Plan" vocational education national planning textbooks, and 12 national quality courses and quality online open courses. The school has taken the lead in co-building 2 vocational education groups and 4 industrial colleges with leading enterprises in the industry, implemented 3 national and 7 provincial modern apprenticeship pilots and the Ministry of Education's 1+X certificate system pilot, and cooperated with more than 370 units such as China Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd. to establish a stable off-campus internship and training base and employment base.
