Jiaxing Vocational and Technical College is a public higher vocational college organized by the Jiaxing Municipal People's Government. The predecessor of the school was the Jiaxing Agricultural School of Zhejiang Province, founded in 1950, and the Jiaxing Silk Industry School, founded in 1985. The two schools co-operated in 1998 and prepared for the establishment of higher vocational education in 1999. The history of the school can be traced back to 1897. In 1955, the Zhejiang Hangzhou Sericulture School, which was developed on the basis of the Zhejiang Sericulture Museum (founded in 1897), was incorporated into the Zhejiang Provincial Jiaxing Agricultural School. The school is located on the banks of Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing, the birthplace of the Communist Party of China, with convenient transportation, beautiful scenery and obvious location advantages. The school has three campuses, with a total area of 1,180 acres and a building area of 410,000 square meters. There are more than 1,240 faculty and staff, including more than 720 full-time teachers. The school has 10 full-time secondary colleges, including the School of Aviation and Track, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, the School of Internet, the School of Cyberspace Security, the School of Modern Agriculture, the School of Urban Construction, the School of Culture and Tourism, the School of Modern Business and Trade, the School of Fashion Design, and the Haiyan College. The Jiaxing Xinhe Vocational Education Group, which was established under the leadership of the school, has become one of the first demonstration vocational education groups in Zhejiang Province and one of the first demonstration vocational education group cultivation units in China.
