Jilin Animation College was founded in June 2000 and was approved by the Ministry of Education as a private undergraduate college in 2008. At present, the school consists of 15 teaching units, including the School of Animation Art, the School of Comics, the School of Games, the School of Design and Product, the School of Film, the School of Virtual Reality and Film Technology, the School of Cultural Industry Business, the School of Animation Industry, the School of Civil Aviation, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Basic Teaching Department of Animation and Game Art, the School of Marxism, the School of General Education, the School of International Exchange and the Sports Club. It offers 33 undergraduate majors (including Sino-foreign cooperative education) such as animation, comics, digital media art, and visual communication design, covering five disciplines of art, literature, engineering, economics, and management, forming six major professional clusters of animation and games, design, film and television, virtual reality and artificial intelligence, cultural and business management and brand marketing, and civil aviation. Among them, there is 1 national characteristic specialty, 5 national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites, 1 provincial "12th Five-Year Plan" advantage and characteristic key discipline, 1 provincial characteristic high-level discipline, 5 provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites, 3 provincial characteristic high-level majors, 3 provincial brand majors, 3 provincial characteristic majors, 1 provincial higher education excellent engineer education training program pilot major, and 4 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship education reform pilot majors. The school currently has more than 13,000 undergraduate students, recruiting students from 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country. Most provinces enroll students in the same batch as key colleges or ordinary public colleges. The employment rate of graduates has always remained at a high level. The school has been rated by the Ministry of Education as a typical university with employment experience in the country (2015), the second batch of national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform (2017), and a typical university with innovation and entrepreneurship experience in the country (2018). Focusing on the development of the national and Jilin provincial cultural and creative industries and civil aviation industries, the school adheres to the school motto of "self-respect, self-reliance, innovation, and creation", adheres to the three major characteristics of "open internationalization, integration of learning, research and production, and high-tech creative products", and adheres to the five responsibilities of "being responsible for students, parents, the industry, society, and the country". The school continues to enhance the supporting role of technological innovation, comprehensively promote the organic integration of education, culture, art, technology, and market, and has successively built the Jilin Higher Education Engineering Research Center for Modern Animation Technology, the Jilin Higher Education Engineering Research Center for Game and Interactive Media Technology, the Jilin Province Industry-University-Research Cooperation Demonstration Base, and the Jilin Animation Culture Research Base. In recent years, the school has undertaken more than 200 national and provincial scientific research projects such as the National Science and Technology Ministry's Science and Technology Support Program Project, the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Project, and the National Art Fund Talent Training Funding Project.
