Jilin Institute of Chemical Technology is located in Jilin City, a river city in the north. It was founded in 1958 and was born with the eldest son of the Republic's chemical industry, China Petroleum Jilin Petrochemical Company. It is known as the "cradle of chemical talents in the Republic". It is one of the first seven chemical colleges in New China approved by the State Council and the only chemical college in Jilin Province. Since its establishment, the school has actively adapted to the needs of economic and social development and industry development, actively carried out scientific research and talent training, and gradually accumulated and formed the school-running characteristics of "the growth cradle of engineers and the training base of managers". It has been approved as a university for the Excellent Engineer Training Program, a pilot university for the National Education Modernization Promotion Project Industry-Education Integration Project, and a Class A university for the Jilin Province Characteristic High-level University Construction Project. The university currently has three campuses in Longtan, Shuangji and Fengman, with a total area of 1.15 million square meters and 16,000 students. It has established 13 teaching colleges (departments) and a graduate school, an engineering training center, an analysis and testing center, and a carbon fiber materials research institute. The professional settings cover six disciplines: engineering, science, economics, management, liberal arts, and medicine. It carries out graduate and undergraduate education, with four first-level master's degree-granting disciplines, six professional master's degree-granting majors, and 53 undergraduate majors, forming a multi-level school-running pattern. The university attaches great importance to connotation construction. It has 7 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 12 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 6 provincial characteristic high-level majors, 2 national characteristic majors, 1 of the first batch of undergraduate major comprehensive reform pilot majors in local universities of the National "Undergraduate Teaching Project", 2 majors in the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program of the Ministry of Education, 4 Jilin Province undergraduate brand majors, 5 pilot majors in the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program of Jilin Province, 1 pilot major in the innovation and entrepreneurship education reform of Jilin Province, 5 national first-class courses, and 36 provincial first-class courses; it has 3 national and provincial off-campus practical education centers , provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, college student innovation practice demonstration base, Jilin Province undergraduate colleges and universities excellent talent training off-campus practice teaching base, talent training model innovation experimental zone and other 14; in 2009, chemical engineering and technology major became the first local colleges and universities in the country to pass the national engineering education professional certification; up to now, chemical engineering and technology, pharmaceutical engineering, process equipment and control engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical design, manufacturing and automation 5 majors have passed the national engineering education certification; in the past two sessions, the school has won 1 national first prize for teaching achievements and 14 provincial teaching achievement awards. The school insists on characteristic development. Persistently follow the path of combining industry, academia and research, there are currently 5 high-level disciplines with Jilin characteristics, 24 provincial scientific research platforms, 1 provincial university science and technology park, 1 provincial industry-university-research cooperation demonstration base, 1 provincial collaborative innovation center, and 1 provincial technology transfer demonstration institution. Actively promote the transformation of high-tech achievements, and cumulatively create tens of billions of yuan in economic benefits for enterprises and society. The school focuses on strengthening the school with talents. It has established educational exchanges and cooperation relations with more than 50 universities and research institutes in the United States, Russia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Japan and other countries, and has successfully held five Sino-foreign cooperative classes in mechanical engineering with Cleveland State University in the United States. In 2022, the cooperative class of chemical engineering and technology with Bashkir State University in Russia and the cooperative class of electronic information engineering with South Seoul University in South Korea were approved to enroll students, and the level of internationalization of education continued to improve. The school adheres to the original intention of educating people. In the 66 years since its establishment, the university has trained a large number of senior technical and management talents for the country and society. Some outstanding students have become experts and scholars in the field of petrochemicals, and the backbone and main force of production and management, making important contributions to the country's modernization and national and local economic and social development.
