Jilin Medical College is located in Jilin City, Jilin Province. It was founded in 1952 and was formerly the Jilin Military Medical College of the Fourth Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In August 2004, the school was transferred from the military to Jilin Province as a whole. It is now the only independent undergraduate college of Western medicine in Jilin Province. It passed the undergraduate education and teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2023, and passed the clinical medicine professional certification of the Ministry of Education in 2017. It is now a Class A university approved by the Jilin Province Master's Degree Authorization Unit. The school covers an area of 636,400 square meters and the building area of the school building is 285,100 square meters. There are 12 teaching and scientific research units, 23 undergraduate majors, distributed in four disciplines of medicine, science, engineering, and management. There are more than 10,000 full-time students. There are 517 full-time teachers in the school headquarters (excluding affiliated hospitals), including 106 provincial and above talents such as national candidates of the New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project, national outstanding scientific and technological workers, and experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council. The talent training has distinctive characteristics. Adhering to the principle of "inheriting the military spirit, putting medical ethics first and medical skills first", the school has promoted the talent training model of "one center and four orientations". The results of the reform of grassroots medical and health talent training have won the first prize of Jilin Province Teaching Achievements three times. The school is a national pilot school for emergency education, a national health school construction unit, a national physician qualification examination practical skills examination base, and a vice-chairman unit of the National Rural Order-Oriented Medical Student Training College Alliance. 11 majors were selected for the "Double Ten Thousand Plan" for the construction of first-class undergraduate majors of the Ministry of Education, and 7 national first-class undergraduate courses. The scientific research and discipline foundation are solid. Clinical medicine and pharmacy are characteristic high-level disciplines with advantages and characteristics in Jilin Province. There are 27 provincial scientific research platforms, including 1 academician workstation and 2 provincial science and technology innovation centers. The school is a national popular science education base, the chairman unit of Jilin Anatomy Society, Jilin Trace Element Science Research Association, Jilin General Medicine Society, Jilin Neuroscience Society, and Jilin Scientific Socialism Society. Social services continue to expand. The school is deeply integrated into the "Healthy Jilin" strategy and the construction of a strong province of medicine, and continuously deepens the cooperation between the school, the government and enterprises. It has taken the lead in establishing the Jilin Province University Medical and Health Modern Industry College Cooperation Body, and has been approved for the national modern industry college cultivation project. International exchanges and cooperation are widely carried out. The school has established cooperative relations with universities, research institutes and hospitals in more than 10 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea, Malaysia, India, the Netherlands, and Belarus. Cooperate with Korea's Gonyang University to organize undergraduate education programs in biopharmaceuticals. There are currently 288 international students in clinical medicine. The school has 1 directly affiliated hospital and 5 non-directly affiliated hospitals, all of which are tertiary-level A comprehensive hospitals. The directly affiliated hospitals are the first batch of national clinical teaching and training demonstration centers, national standardized training bases for resident physicians, and national nursing science education bases.
