Jilin University of Finance and Economics is a key university in Jilin Province, jointly established by the Jilin Provincial People's Government and the State Administration of Taxation. The school started with a training course for bank cadres held by the Northeast Bank Head Office in July 1946. It has gone through several historical periods, including the Northeast Bank Cadre School, the Northeast Bank Special School, the People's Bank of China Changchun Banking School, the Jilin Finance and Trade College, and the Jilin Finance and Trade School. In May 1978, the Jilin Finance and Trade College was restored; in May 1992, it was renamed Changchun Taxation College; from 1992 to 2000, it was directly managed by the State Administration of Taxation; in 2004, it was selected as one of the ten "key universities in Jilin Province"; in March 2010, it was renamed Jilin University of Finance and Economics. The school is a red financial education base founded by our party in the Northeast, the first financial college established in New China, one of the earliest general undergraduate financial colleges established in the country, and the first and only tax undergraduate university in the country. In 2005, the school moved as a whole to the bank of Jingyuetan Lake, which is known as "the largest artificial forest in Asia". The campus covers an area of 1.08 million square meters. It has a collection of 1.73 million paper books, 1.41 million electronic books, 83 original foreign journals, and 63 Chinese and foreign databases. The natural, elegant, heavy and broad campus environment and spacious, bright, sunny and comfortable student apartments have created good conditions for the growth and development of students. In the 2023 university rankings of the Soft Science, it ranks 25th among financial universities. The school adheres to the fundamental principle of cultivating morality and cultivating people, and takes "high-quality, application-oriented, innovative and compound" as its goal, and strives to promote the coordinated development of general undergraduate, graduate education and continuing education, and has cultivated a large number of high-quality, top-notch and innovative talents with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. Over the past 77 years, the university has adhered to the principle of "cultivating financial talents for the Party, the country and regional economic development", and has trained and sent more than 100,000 high-quality professionals who are fighting in the main battlefields of national and economic construction. A large number of industry elites and industry leaders have emerged in important fields such as finance and taxation, and have made positive contributions to serving the national strategic needs and the revitalization and development needs of Jilin. There are experts and scholars such as the first female doctor of accounting and the first batch of doctors of finance who teach in 985 and 211 universities such as Peking University, Renmin University of China, Sun Yat-sen University, and Xiamen University. They inherit the bloodline and continue to cultivate more outstanding financial talents for the country. Students of the school have won many awards in high-level subject competitions such as the National "Internet +" College Student Entrepreneurship Competition, the "Challenge Cup" National Competition, the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, the E-commerce Design Competition, and the Management Decision Simulation Competition. The school was awarded the National College Student Cultural Quality Education Base and the "National Graduate Employment Typical Experience University" by the Ministry of Education. While imparting professional knowledge, the school strives to build a moral education platform of "full of thoughts, honesty, simple style, solid foundation, and pragmatic work", and a group of public welfare models dedicated to social charity have emerged: the "Love Relay" team that has taken care of lonely elderly people for 24 consecutive years, "Mom Teacher" Lv Jinhua, Zhang Shangyun, the first of the "Top Ten Filial Piety" in the country, and Zhang Shuang, the "surrogate mother" for 24 consecutive years, and one of the top ten "Touching Jilin" figures... wrote a touching story of love and dedication of students from Jilin University of Finance and Economics. Over the years, the school has maintained its advantages in student sources and employment, and its graduates have maintained a high quality of employment. The MyCOS employment quality evaluation survey shows that the overall satisfaction of employers with our graduates has remained above 97%, winning a good reputation in the society and being hailed as the "Cradle of Bankers" and the "Huangpu Military Academy of the Tax System". The school's 2022 graduate employment work was commended by the provincial party committee and government. The school adheres to the discipline-based school-building principle and strives to build a discipline ecological system of "highlighting advantages, supporting emerging disciplines, and building a solid foundation", forming a discipline characteristic with economics and management disciplines as the main body, and coordinated development of law, literature, science, engineering and other disciplines. The school currently has six major disciplines: economics, management, law, literature, science, and engineering; there are 8 high-level disciplines with advantages and characteristics in Jilin Province, including 1 "first-class discipline A", 1 "first-class discipline B", 1 "advantageous and distinctive discipline A", and 5 "advantageous and distinctive disciplines B"; the discipline of economics is the "2019 Jilin Province Colleges and Universities Basic Disciplines Outstanding Students Training Base"; there are 10 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, including theoretical economics, applied economics, law, Marxist theory, foreign languages and literature, mathematics, statistics, management science and engineering, business administration, and public administration; there are 13 master's professional degree categories, including business administration, law, taxation, applied statistics, international business, accounting, auditing, finance, public administration, insurance, journalism and communication, library and information, and electronic information; there are 12 Jilin Province graduate workstations; it has the qualification for recommendation of master's students, and is a Class A university approved by Jilin Province's doctoral degree authorization unit. The school currently has 41 undergraduate majors, including 1 pilot program for comprehensive reform of majors of the Ministry of Education; 16 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 6 national characteristic majors; 7 national first-class undergraduate courses, 1 national high-quality online open course, and 1 national high-quality course; 2 new liberal arts practice projects of the Ministry of Education; 1 national ideological and political demonstration project; 1 national practical teaching base; and 1 national teaching team. The school has the Jilin Province New Liberal Arts Education Research Center, and is the only provincial university selected into the first batch of national outstanding legal talent education and training base projects; it is a national accounting master's degree demonstration joint training practice base; Yatai Business School is one of the "Top Ten MBA Business Schools in China". The school insists on developing talents as the focus, and in its magnificent history of running schools, it has gathered elites and famous teachers. Famous scholars and experts such as Yuan Mengchao, Yu Xingyuan, Wang Sili, Zhao Xixian, Hu Jichun, and Song Donglin have taught at the school. The university has built the "National Research Center for Socialist Political Economy with Chinese Characteristics" which is supported by the Central Propaganda Department, one major demand collaborative innovation center of Jilin Province's "2011 Plan", three research bases in key areas of social sciences in Jilin Province, two new think tanks with Jilin characteristics, seven key research bases for humanities and social sciences in Jilin universities, one key laboratory in Jilin Province, three key laboratories in Jilin universities, two innovation teams in Jilin universities, and one of the first batch of philosophy and social science laboratories in Jilin universities. The university sponsors two academic journals, "Contemporary Economic Research" and "Taxation and Economy". Among them, "Contemporary Economic Research" is the journal of the China Capital Research Association under the supervision of the Jilin Provincial Department of Education and sponsored by Jilin University of Finance and Economics. It is now a professional journal of Marxist political economy that is focused on by the Central Propaganda Department, a journal funded by the National Social Science Fund, a source journal of the Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI), a national Chinese core journal, a core journal of the comprehensive evaluation of Chinese humanities and social science journals AMI (A journal), and an important source journal for the reprint of newspapers and periodicals of Renmin University of China. Taxation and Economy is a national core Chinese journal, a source journal of the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (extended version), and a source journal of the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index.More than ten people from the school have been hired as decision-making advisory members of the provincial party committee and the provincial government. They play an important role in the drafting and formulation of major plans, major decisions, and important documents of the provincial party committee, provincial government, State Administration of Taxation and other ministries and commissions. It has established inter-school cooperation relations with 55 universities in the United States, Britain, Australia, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Singapore, France, Belarus, Sweden and other countries and Taiwan, my country. The school is one of the founding universities of the "China-Russia Economic University Alliance", a member of the "China-Central and Eastern European University Association", and an implementing institution of the "Young Key Teachers Overseas Training Program" and the "Promoting International Joint Training Program with Russia, Ukraine and Belarus" of the China Scholarship Council. In 1999, the Sino-foreign cooperative education work was launched. Currently, it cooperates with Charles Sturt University in Australia to organize three undergraduate programs in accounting, finance and e-commerce. More than 50 student degree programs and exchange programs have been designed and developed with friendly overseas universities. The project exchanges cover many countries and regions such as Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Japan, etc., and the scope of dispatched majors is fully covered. The school has been conducting education for international students in China for a long time and is a qualified institution for the "Jilin Provincial Government Foreign Student Scholarship".
