Jingchu Polytechnic Institute is a provincial full-time general college approved by the Ministry of Education in March 2007. It was formed by the merger of Jingmen Vocational and Technical College and Shayang Teachers College. It has a history of more than 30 years of higher education. The school is located at the foot of Bailong Mountain in the central urban area of Jingmen City, Hubei Province. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, has beautiful scenery, and has a profound cultural and historical heritage. It is a landscape garden-style university. The school is run on one campus, with a campus area of more than 2,400 acres and a school building area of 389,800 square meters. Engineering Practice Education Center), one provincial demonstration internship training base for Hubei universities (Hubei Sanning Chemical Co., Ltd.), and four provincial off-campus internship training bases for college students in Hubei universities (China-India South Printing Internship Training Base, Hubei Jinlongquan Group Co., Ltd. There are 12 provincial excellent grassroots teaching organizations, 8 provincial teaching teams, 29 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 1 provincial ideological and political demonstration course, 1 provincial quality video open course, and 3 provincial quality online open courses. There are 139 national and 407 provincial college student innovation training projects. It undertakes one national-level "New Agricultural Science" research and reform practice project (research and practice of local agricultural universities serving the rural revitalization strategy model), undertakes 53 provincial and above education and teaching research projects, and won 1 first prize, 5 second prizes, and 8 third prizes in provincial teaching achievement awards. The school has built a number of provincial and municipal scientific research platforms. Among them, there is one "Science and Technology Innovation China" industry-university-research collaboration innovation base, one Hubei Collaborative Innovation Center, one Hubei Key Laboratory, one Hubei Industrial Technology Research Institute, one Hubei Jingmen Pharmaceutical Industry Technology Research Institute, one Hubei Engineering Research Center, one Hubei New Rural Development Research Institute, one Hubei Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base, one Hubei Intellectual Property Training Center, 11 Hubei Enterprise-School Co-construction Technology R&D Centers, and 5 Jingmen Industrial Technology R&D and High-tech Enterprise Incubation Bases. In the past five years, the school has established 6 provincial-level scientific and technological innovation teams, such as the application of green catalytic materials and technologies in pharmaceuticals; it has undertaken 410 national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects, including 6 National Natural Science Foundation and National Social Science Foundation projects. The school has undertaken 442 horizontal scientific research projects commissioned by enterprises; won 26 provincial and municipal science and technology and social science achievement awards; and has 660 patents of various types. The school teachers have published 625 papers in core journals, and 327 papers have been included in authoritative retrieval systems such as SCI. The Journal of Jingchu Institute of Technology has been successively rated as the National Excellent Social Science Journal, the National Excellent Journal of Local Universities, and the National Quality Progress Social Science Journal. Its "Biography Literature Research" column has been rated as a "Featured Column" by the Hubei Higher Education Journal Research Association and the Hubei Provincial Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television Bureau; Jingchu Journal has been rated as the National Excellent Social Science Journal and the Hubei Provincial Excellent Journal, and its "Jingchu Culture Research" column won the Hubei Journal "Featured Column Award". The school has carried out joint training of postgraduate students with universities such as Yangtze University, Hubei University of Technology, and Wuhan University of Technology, and has established inter-school exchange and cooperation relations with more than 20 universities in countries and regions, including Vaasa University of Applied Sciences in Finland, Long Island University in the United States, University of Caen in France, Kazan State Technical University in Russia, Ubon Ratchathani University in Thailand, University of the Philippines, University of Barcelona in Spain, University of Bolton in the United Kingdom, Whitecliffe College in New Zealand, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences in Germany, and Macau University of Science and Technology in Macau, China. The Sino-foreign cooperative undergraduate program in digital media technology jointly organized with Whitecliffe College in New Zealand has been approved by the Ministry of Education and will begin enrollment in the fall semester of 2022. The school began to recruit international students in 2013, and 286 international students have come to study in our school. There are four undergraduate majors taught in English, namely stomatology, marketing, computer science and technology, and pharmaceutical engineering. According to the Chinese language level of international students, there are elementary, intermediate and advanced classes for international Chinese. The school has been awarded the title of National Demonstration Unit of Energy-Saving Public Institutions, Advanced Unit for Standardized Management of Employment Statistics of College Graduates in Hubei Province, Safe Campus of Hubei Province, Civilized Unit (Campus) of Hubei Province, and the Youth League Committee of the school has been awarded the title of National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee. In 2014, the school became the first batch of pilot schools for the transformation and development of local undergraduate colleges in Hubei Province; in 2015, the school became the first batch of "Ministry of Education-ZTE ICT Industry-Education Integration Innovation Base". In 2016, the school successfully passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education. In 2020, the school was selected into the "National Education Modernization Promotion Project for Basic Capacity Building Projects in Central and Western Universities". In 2022, the school's college student innovation and entrepreneurship park was rated as a "national-level makerspace".
