Jingzhou Polytechnic College is one of the earliest public full-time general higher vocational colleges in the country. It merged with Jingzhou Education College (Jingzhou Radio and Television University) in 2021 and is a comprehensive higher vocational college with a relatively complete range of disciplines. After the merger, the school implemented the "one school, three districts" school-running system. There are more than 20,000 full-time students and more than 15,000 part-time students. The school has a long history of running schools, rigorous school spirit, standardized management, and distinctive characteristics. In accordance with the strategy of "I have what others don't have, I am better than others, and I am special" and the requirements of "professional service industry development", we deeply connect with the city's 4 100 billion industries and 4 over 50 billion industries to create characteristic majors (groups). It has formed 7 major traditional advantage professional groups such as machinery, construction, electronic information, chemical engineering, management, primary education, and preschool education, and 3 major emerging industry professional groups such as intelligent manufacturing, cultural creativity, and Internet finance, and created 3 modern industrial colleges: "Midea Industrial College", "Lighting Workshop Industrial College", and "Store Manager College". A total of 45 majors are offered, among which industrial robot technology and e-commerce are national backbone majors; computer application technology is a brand major in Hubei Province; industrial robot technology, intelligent optoelectronic technology application, insurance practice, and automobile manufacturing and testing technology are characteristic majors in Hubei Province. The professional group of intelligent optoelectronic technology application has been selected as a provincial high-level professional group. The school has 13 national "1+X" certificate system pilot projects. There are 11 national key construction practical teaching bases, including the central government-supported intelligent optoelectronic technology application training base. There are 8 provincial key construction bases, including the Hubei Provincial Training Base for the Optoelectronic Technology Project of the 46th World Skills Competition, and 10 municipal key construction bases. In 2021, the school was approved as a model school for the construction of a digital campus in national vocational colleges. The school undertakes the "National Training" and "Provincial Training" training projects, and has made important contributions to the teacher training and reform and development of basic education in the city and even the province. The school has achieved fruitful results in education and teaching, and has won more than 600 awards in national, provincial and municipal skill competitions. Among them, in the optoelectronic technology application competition of the first national vocational skills competition in 2020, the school students won the fourth place in the country and won the title of "National Technical Expert". In the finals of the 2021 National Industry Vocational Skills Competition for Electric Light Source Manufacturing (Optoelectronic Information and Technology), the school teachers won the fourth place in the country. Now there are 1 technical guidance expert and 1 coach for the national team of optoelectronic technology projects. The employment rate of school graduates has always remained above 95%. In 2022, the Jingzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government awarded the school the title of "Pioneer in the Opening" Advanced Collective of Science and Education Innovation in the New Development Stage of Jingzhou.
