Jingzhou University is a full-time general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. The predecessor of the school was the School of Engineering and Technology of Yangtze University, which was founded in 2004. In May 2021, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be renamed Jingzhou University. The school is located in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, a national historical and cultural city. Jingzhou, formerly known as "Jiangling", was the capital of the Chu State in the Spring and Autumn Period, the birthplace of Chu culture and the center of the Three Kingdoms culture. It is located on both sides of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and in the hinterland of the Jianghan Plain. It is one of the first 24 Chinese historical and cultural cities announced by the State Council. It is also an excellent tourist city in China, a national garden city, and an important port city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. It is known as the "steel waist of the Yangtze River Economic Belt". The school campus has a beautiful environment, with landscape sculptures dotted in between. Buildings, lakes, and green plants are integrated and complement each other. There are provincial first-class undergraduate courses in ideological and political theory social practice courses, 2 provincial quality courses in advanced mathematics and digital electronic technology, and 19 school-level quality courses and curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses. The school has achieved fruitful results in talent training, and the graduate admission rate has been among the top universities in the province for many years. In the past three years, in participating in various national and provincial and ministerial-level discipline knowledge and skills competitions, students have won 103 awards at the national, provincial and ministerial levels, 368 awards, 147 national utility model patents, and 156 papers.
