Jiujiang University is a state-owned public full-time undergraduate general college approved by the Ministry of Education. Its history can be traced back to the Danfude Hospital Nursing School founded in 1901. The current school system is "co-construction by the province and the city, with the city as the main body". The school is located in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, a historical and cultural city in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It is located at the junction of Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan and Anhui provinces, at the foot of Lushan Mountain, the bank of the Yangtze River and the bank of Poyang Lake. Famous cities, mountains, rivers and lakes have created the unique advantages of Jiujiang University, especially the Bailudong Academy, which has a history of thousands of years and enjoys the reputation of "the first academy in the world", which has given Jiujiang University a profound cultural heritage. The school currently has "one school and two gardens", of which Danfeng Garden covers 2,100 acres and Ziwei Garden covers 1,569 acres. It has 23 secondary colleges, 2 "Grade 3 Class A" affiliated hospitals, 1 affiliated dental hospital and 1 Jiangxi Provincial Cerebrovascular Regional Medical Center. It recruits students from 30 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) across the country, with more than 33,000 full-time students. The campus environment and teaching, cultural and sports facilities are first-class in China. There are museums, art galleries, concert halls, dance theaters, large indoor comprehensive gymnasiums, tennis halls, billiard halls, badminton halls, rock climbing halls, swimming pools and shooting halls and other professional gymnasiums. There is a Furong Town on campus for students to live and relax. There are Jiujiang Symphony Orchestra, Jiujiang Youth Song and Dance Troupe and Jiujiang Chorus jointly built by the city and the school. There are 3 modern libraries with more than 3.26 million paper books, more than 1.75 million electronic books, and more than 100 Chinese and foreign databases. There are 22 experimental teaching centers of various levels and types, including 6 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 56 basic laboratories jointly built by the central and local governments, laboratories of characteristic and advantageous disciplines between the central and local governments, and special funds projects supported by the central government for the reform and development of local universities. The school will enroll 75 undergraduate majors in 2023, covering ten major disciplines: economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and art. The school vigorously promotes education and teaching reforms and strengthens professional and disciplinary construction. Four majors, including accounting, microelectronics science and engineering, medical laboratory technology, and tourism management, have been approved as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites. International economics and trade and biological sciences are national characteristic majors. Accounting and chemical engineering and technology majors are respectively included in the ranks of provincial first-class advantage majors and characteristic majors. 14 majors, including applied physics, microelectronics science and engineering, clinical medicine, medical laboratory technology, chemical engineering and technology, nursing, accounting, tourism management, international economics and trade, applied chemistry, mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, materials forming and control engineering, computer science and technology, and environmental engineering, have been approved as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 14 provincial high-level applied undergraduate teaching team construction sites have been approved. 2 courses were selected as national first-class undergraduate courses, 36 provincial first-class courses, and 7 high-quality online courses during the epidemic prevention period in Jiangxi Province in 2020. The original dance work "Yaoguang Fu" jointly created by the School of Art and Jiujiang Youth Song and Dance Troupe was shortlisted for the final review of the 13th China Dance "Lotus Award" classical dance, and it is the only shortlisted work in Jiangxi Province for this year's "Lotus Award". At the same time, there are 35 national and provincial "quality engineering" projects and 271 national and provincial "undergraduate teaching engineering" projects. Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", a total of 7 first prizes and 17 second prizes for provincial teaching achievements have been won. The school initiated the establishment of the Jiangxi Province Applied Undergraduate University Alliance, relying on the alliance and Jiujiang College to build the Jiangxi Province Applied Undergraduate University Research Center. Relying on the unique resources, location and industrial advantages of Lushan Mountain, Yangtze River and Poyang Lake in Jiujiang, the school has deepened the construction of the "Mountain, River and Lake" characteristic discipline group. Relying on Jiujiang City's ten trillion-yuan industries, it has built an applied discipline group dominated by disciplines such as chemical engineering, biology, medicine, materials, machinery, electronic information, resources and environment, and digital economy. The discipline of chemistry has been approved as a first-class discipline with potential for development in Jiangxi Province during the "14th Five-Year Plan". International trade, condensed matter physics, botany, materials processing engineering, tourism management, chemical engineering and technology, human anatomy and histology, ancient Chinese literature, ideological and political education, and accounting are key disciplines in Jiangxi Province. Relying on the "Discipline Alliance", the school has signed agreements with Nanchang University, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Gannan Normal University, etc. to carry out the "joint enrollment and independent training" master's degree work, and has independently, jointly, and cooperatively trained 286 graduate students. In 2021, the school was listed as a key construction unit in the project planning of the newly added master's degree-granting units in Jiangxi Province during the "14th Five-Year Plan". The school currently has 2,679 faculty and staff, including 1,960 full-time teachers, 910 professors and associate professors, more than 630 doctors, and 114 graduate supervisors, including 7 doctoral supervisors. There are currently 2 academician workstations, 1 postdoctoral research workstation; 1 provincial 2011 collaborative innovation center; 6 provincial key laboratories and engineering technology research centers; 2 provincial social science key research bases; 1 provincial cultural and artistic science key research base; 2 provincial colleges and universities humanities and social sciences key research bases. The Confucius Institute has developed into the most important Chinese language learning and training base in Cambodia and an important bridge for cultural exchanges between China and Cambodia.
