Kangda College of Nanjing Medical University was founded in 1999. It is a public-private secondary college independently established by Nanjing Medical University and approved by the Provincial Department of Education. In 2005, it was established as an independent college with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2011, Nanjing Medical University and Lianyungang Municipal Government signed a cooperative school-running agreement. In September 2013, Kangda College of Nanjing Medical University officially moved from Nanjing to Lianyungang. The college has 12 teaching institutions including the Department of Basic Medicine, the Department of Clinical Medicine, the Department of Nursing, the Department of Pharmacy, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the Department of Humanities and Management. It has a group of professional leaders who enjoy a high reputation at home and abroad; it has now built 42 affiliated hospitals, clinical medical schools, teaching hospitals and clinical teaching centers, and at the same time shares the teaching resources of 15 affiliated hospitals of Nanjing Medical University. The college currently has 2,375 full-time and part-time teachers, including 880 with associate senior titles or above; 436 faculty members, more than 85% of whom have doctoral and master's degrees. The college has 19 majors and 21 directions, including clinical medicine, preventive medicine, pharmacy, medical imaging technology, nursing, public utilities management, rehabilitation therapy, and medical laboratory technology. At present, the college has 12,683 students. The college has advanced and complete teaching, experimental and living facilities. It has built more than 100 laboratories and 32 standard OSCE test stations. It has also built scientific research and teaching institutions such as the Life Science Museum, the Young Teachers' Scientific Research Platform, the Medical Experimental Animal Center, and the Medical Simulation Education Center. The library has a collection of more than 1 million volumes of documents. At the same time, as a branch of the Nanjing Medical University Library, the college students can share the rich collection resources of the Nanjing Medical University Library. The college actively explores educational and teaching reforms, continuously improves the quality of teaching and talent training, and has achieved remarkable results. In the Tsinghua University Wu Shulian University Rankings, the quality of our college's freshmen and graduates has ranked among the top 10 among nearly 300 independent colleges in the country for three consecutive years. In order to improve the quality of talent training, the college selects a certain number of outstanding students every year to study in relevant majors of well-known domestic medical colleges such as Nanjing Medical University for one year, providing students with the opportunity to study and exchange at high-level medical universities. The college vigorously carries out overseas exchanges and cooperation, strengthens exchanges and cooperation with medical colleges in regions and countries such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Central Asia, Japan and South Korea, and expands the college's path of running schools abroad. At present, it has signed joint training agreements with foreign universities such as Queen's University Belfast, UK, Trinity Western University in Canada, and King's College in the United States. The college actively explores school-enterprise cooperation, and has established Kangyuan Industrial College in cooperation with Jiangsu Kangyuan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and has held 6 sessions of Hausen Classes and established Hansen Pharmaceutical College in cooperation with Jiangsu Hausen Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. At the same time, it undertakes employee training for pharmaceutical companies such as Hengrui and Zhengda Tianqing, and cultivates and delivers urgently needed professional medical talents for enterprises. The college actively participates in the construction of a healthy port city, carries out a series of health promotion activities, first aid knowledge promotion and skills training, mental health activities and volunteer services, etc., and the activities have been unanimously praised by local citizens. After more than 20 years of development and accumulation, Kangda College has become an independent college with advanced concepts, distinctive characteristics, strict management and excellent brand, and has been widely recognized and praised by the society. The college will inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of running schools of Nanjing Medical University, combine the local characteristics of the port city, focus on the construction of general medicine, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation therapy, medical imaging technology, public utilities management and other majors; give full play to the advantages of medical schools, drive and improve the overall medical, scientific research and health level of hospitals in Lianyungang area, and form a good development pattern of mutual promotion of science, education and research, and mutual learning of teaching; at the same time, actively carry out the transformation of scientific and technological achievements to serve social and economic development.
