Kunming Medical University Haiyuan College was founded in 2001 by Kunming Medical University and Kunming Fuda Industrial Group. In 2004, it passed the first batch of audits by the Ministry of Education and was confirmed as an independent college. It is the only independent medical and health college in Yunnan Province. In 2013, it passed the first batch of teaching work evaluations of independent colleges by the Provincial Department of Education; in 2015, it was awarded A grade in the evaluation of the school-running level of private undergraduate colleges; in 2023, it ranked among the top in the evaluation of the school-running situation of provincial private colleges. It has been successively rated as an excellent general college in Yunnan Province, a model college of private education in Yunnan Province, a civilized school in Yunnan Province, a demonstration point for party building work of "two new" organizations of the Organization Department of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, and an advanced unit for college student employment in Yunnan Province. The school has two campuses, Gaoxin and Yanglin, with 14 party and government management agencies, 11 party general branches, 13 teaching and auxiliary agencies, 3 mass organizations, and 20 experimental training institutions, including 1 provincial experimental teaching demonstration center and 2 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching centers. The two campuses cover a total area of 698.21 acres, with a building area of 540,844.23 square meters; the total number of library collections is 1,229,695 volumes; there are 743 on-the-job faculty and staff, including 659 full-time teachers, 260 of whom have associate senior titles or above, and 346 have master's degrees or above; it has three non-affiliated hospitals (Shilin Tianqi Hospital affiliated to Kunming Medical University Haiyuan College, Kunming Tongren Hospital affiliated to Kunming, and Fumin Hospital affiliated to Kunming Medical University); three teaching hospitals (Kunming Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Lufeng County People's Hospital, Kunming Angel Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital); and 112 practical teaching bases. The school recruits students from 31 provinces, cities, and municipalities across the country. As of March 2024, there are 15,871 full-time undergraduate students. It has 22 undergraduate majors including clinical medicine, stomatology, nursing, pharmacy, optometry, etc., covering 5 disciplines including medicine, science, engineering, management, and education. Among them, the medical laboratory technology major is a registered major striving to become a domestic first-class major. In addition, the nursing major is a provincial first-class professional construction point, and the four majors of clinical medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and stomatology are provincial characteristic majors. The four majors of medical imaging technology, rehabilitation therapy, sports rehabilitation, and public utilities management are college-level characteristic majors, forming a professional construction system led by provincial characteristic majors and supported by college-level characteristic majors. Since its establishment, the school has continuously improved its conditions for running schools, promoted the modernization of its governance system and governance capabilities, deepened education and teaching reforms, and improved the quality of talent training.
