Leshan Vocational and Technical College is located between the world cultural and natural dual heritage Leshan Giant Buddha and Mount Emei, and is located on the banks of the Qingyi River in Suji New District of Leshan City, Sichuan Province, a historical and cultural city. Its history can be traced back to the Leshan Nursing School in Southern Sichuan District, which was established in 1951. The school was established in April 2002 with the approval of the Sichuan Provincial People's Government. It is a comprehensive full-time public general higher vocational college organized by the Leshan Municipal People's Government, including medicine and health, finance and tourism, intelligent manufacturing, modern agriculture, new energy and materials and other disciplines. The school has been listed as a model higher vocational college in Sichuan Province, a high-quality higher vocational school in Sichuan Province, a project unit for the construction of high-level higher vocational schools and high-level professional groups in Sichuan Province, and the third batch of modern apprenticeship pilot schools of the Ministry of Education. There are 3 national backbone majors, 1 national vocational college health service major, 3 national modern apprenticeship pilot majors, 2 high-level professional groups in Sichuan Province, and 4 provincial key and demonstration majors; the central finance supports the construction of 2 key training bases, 1 national productive training base, and 1 Sichuan Demonstration Virtual Simulation Training Base; 4 national courses and 17 provincial courses have been recognized. As a college, it has taken the lead in establishing the Leshan National High-tech Industrial Development Zone Industry-Education Consortium, and has built and operated the Leshan Intelligent Manufacturing Industry-Education Alliance and the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle Hotel Vocational Education Alliance. It has successfully built a national exemplary vocational education group-Leshan Silicon Materials Vocational Education Group. It has established good school-enterprise cooperation relations with more than 170 well-known enterprises and institutions in and outside the province, including the Chengdu Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Guangzhou Institute of Energy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University, Sichuan University, Shanghai Electric, Nanjing Estun Automation Group, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., ZTE Corporation, Golden Arches (China) Co., Ltd., Tongwei Group Co., Ltd., and JinkoSolar Holdings Co., Ltd. The school actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation at multiple levels, in a wide range of fields and in multiple forms. Focusing on the needs of the national development strategy, it actively explores new ideas for the internationalization of vocational education and implements the "three ones" promotion project of "one platform, one brand and one strategy" for international exchanges and cooperation: building a new platform for international cooperation, forming the "Study in Leshan" brand, and being recognized as an "advanced collective for international student education in China" by the International Student Management Branch of the Chinese Higher Education Society. It was rated as a pilot institution for the "Going Out" program of the Ministry of Education and established an overseas branch in Zambia. In 2018, Princess Sirindhorn of Thailand visited the school and won the "2019 China-Thailand Vocational Education Cooperation Contribution Award" in Thailand the following year. The school is the only higher vocational college among the first batch of demonstration bases for studying abroad in China in Sichuan Province. It has been approved by the Ministry of Education as a "project college for the training of talents in the field of intelligent manufacturing between China and foreign cultural exchanges" and has successfully held the first "China-Thailand International Nursing Education Forum", the 20th and 24th Asian Mathematical Technology Conferences. The internationalization of education has been included in the "2018 Sichuan Provincial Education Quality Annual Report" as a typical case by the Provincial Department of Education.
