Liaoning Vocational College of Geology and Engineering is a full-time general college approved by the Liaoning Provincial People's Government and registered by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, focusing on the training of talents in land and resources majors. The college is affiliated to the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education. It is the only higher vocational college named after geology in my country and a model higher vocational college in Liaoning Province. Over the years, the college has adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, followed the school-running philosophy of "taking moral education as the foundation, reform and innovation as the driving force, characteristic quality as the core, and service development as the purpose", focused on the integration of industry and education, and took the lead in establishing the Liaoning Geological and Mineral Vocational Education Group to promote the precise connection between the supply side of education and the demand side of the industry, forming a professional pattern of "facing the job group of the land and resources industry, with resource majors as the main body, and serving other majors for local development as the auxiliary". The college covers an area of 335,000 square meters, with a construction area of 118,000 square meters, and has 7,234 students in higher vocational education. There are 10 departments including the Department of Resources, the Department of Surveying and Mapping Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Architecture, the Department of Environment and Ecology, the School of Animation and Film, the Department of Economics and Trade, the Basic Department, the Department of Physical Education, and the School of Marxism. The college offers 25 majors, including mineral geology and exploration, gem identification and processing, engineering surveying technology, construction engineering technology, and mechatronics technology. Among them, gem identification and processing, construction engineering technology, and mechatronics technology are provincial demonstration majors, and mineral geology and exploration is a high-level specialty group in Liaoning Province. The college has a total of 245 faculty members, 73 of whom have associate senior titles or above, and 82% of full-time teachers have master's degrees or above. There are 3 famous teachers in Liaoning Province, 3 leaders of the top 100 natural science disciplines in Dandong City, 28 Dandong Science and Technology Review Experts, 25 college-level professional leaders, and the proportion of "double-qualified" teachers is 86%. The college has built 14 on-campus comprehensive training bases integrating "talent training, social training, vocational skills appraisal, innovation and entrepreneurship, and technical services". Among them, there are 3 national-level vocational education training bases for gem identification and processing, electrical and electronic engineering, and animation design and production supported by the central government, 6 training bases supported by the provincial government, 156 on-campus internship training rooms, and more than 80 off-campus training bases. The college actively promotes the school-enterprise cooperation mechanism of "talent co-education, process co-management, achievement sharing, and responsibility sharing", innovatively implements the Liaodi Academy-style tutor system, implements the "35+10" teaching model, and continuously improves "order training", "work-study integration", "on-the-job internship", "modern apprenticeship" and other talent training models, vigorously promotes the "double certificate" system, and the rate of graduates obtaining job qualification certificates has reached 98%, which has improved students' professional ability and employment competitiveness. In recent years, more than 300 awards have been won in provincial and above skill competitions, and the average employment rate of graduates is 95.26%, ranking among the top in the province. The college insists on serving the needs of the land and resources industry and regional economic and social development, and the service quality is constantly improving. The college is a training base for employees in China's nonferrous metal industry, a talent training base for the Liaoning Provincial Geological Exploration and Mining Group, a training base for special equipment operators in Dandong, the eighth vocational skills appraisal institute in Dandong, and a jewelry testing center in Dandong. The college was awarded a demonstration base for employee education and training by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. The college insists on taking moral education as its fundamental task, continuously strengthening its connotation construction, and has achieved remarkable results.
