Historical evolution and current situation Liaoning Special Education Normal College is a provincial public full-time higher vocational college. It was founded in 1995. In 2012, it was approved by the Liaoning Provincial Government and was established on the basis of the Liaoning Provincial Secondary Vocational and Technical School for Disabled Persons. Education Vocational College was renamed Liaoning Special Education Normal College in 2013. It was registered with the Ministry of Education in 2014. In 2017, it was placed under the management of the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education by the former Liaoning Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation. The school has successively won the titles of "National Advanced Group for Special Education", "Home for Disabled Persons (awarded by the State Council)", "National Advanced Unit for Sports for Disabled Persons from 2015 to 2018", "Advanced Group for Special Education in Liaoning Province", "Liaoning Province Education System" Honorary titles such as "Constitutional Defenders' Outstanding Organizational Unit of Action Plan". The school is located in Hunnan District, Shenyang City, covering an area of about 300 acres and a construction area of 100,000 square meters. There are currently 6 secondary colleges (departments and departments) with 96 full-time teachers and more than 2,000 students. A professional pattern has been formed that coordinates the development of majors suitable for the employment of students with visual impairments, hearing impairments, and physical disabilities, as well as various majors that serve early education and rehabilitation for disabled people. 81% of graduates in the past five years have found jobs and started businesses in Liaoning. Since its establishment, the school has trained more than 5,000 graduates. In recent years, one of the school's disabled physical training students won 1 silver and 3 bronze medals at the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games; 3 of them won gold medals in the 1500m, 400m and archery events at the Rio Paralympic Games; and 5 of them won the ninth place in the country. He won the championship in handcar competition and other events at the Paralympic Games. Two students with disabilities from the school won the honorary title of "Star of Self-improvement for Chinese College Students in 2019", and one of them also represented the school at the 27th Congress of the All-China Student Federation. Many students with disabilities have entered the community to work as full-time committee members for persons with disabilities and continue to contribute to the development of the cause of persons with disabilities. Talent Team and Scientific Research Platform The school currently has 158 faculty members, including 96 full-time teachers, 27 with associate senior professional titles or above, 51 with master's degrees or above, and "double-qualified" teachers account for 48%. The school currently has 43 on-campus training rooms, 40 off-campus training bases, and has established 137 enterprise practice reserves under teachers.
