Liaoning University of International Business and Economics is a non-profit private undergraduate university funded by employees. It is the first private undergraduate university in Liaoning Province. It is located in the historic city of Dalian Lushun on the coast of the Bohai Sea. The school was founded in October 1964, then named Liaoning Foreign Trade Bureau Vocational School, and operated in Shenyang and Dalian. In 1966, it was suspended due to the "Cultural Revolution". In 1979, it resumed operation in Sandaogou, Ganjingzi District, Dalian, and was named Liaoning Foreign Trade School, under the management of the Ministry of Foreign Trade. In 1985, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation agreed to allocate funds to expropriate land for the construction of a new campus. In 1987, the school moved to the new campus in Yangshugou, Shahekou District, Dalian, and the Dalian Training Center of the University of International Business and Economics was established in the school. In 1989, the school was transferred from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation to the Liaoning Foreign Trade Bureau. In April 1997, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation agreed to establish a private branch of Liaoning Foreign Trade School in Lushun Economic and Technological Development Zone. In July 1999, the Ministry of Education approved the upgrading of the private branch of Liaoning Foreign Trade School to a higher vocational college, named Wancheng Vocational College of Economics and Trade. In April 2000, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education approved the Liaoning Foreign Trade School to implement a state-owned and private school management system, which was implemented by Wancheng Vocational College of Economics and Trade. In February 2001, the Liaoning Provincial Government approved the renaming of Wancheng Vocational College of Economics and Trade to Liaoning Vocational College of Foreign Trade. In September 2003, the college and Liaoning Normal University jointly recruited four-year ordinary undergraduate students. In March 2005, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Liaoning Foreign Trade College, a full-time ordinary college at the undergraduate level, which was under the management of the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education. In June 2006, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation decided to separate Liaoning Foreign Trade School from Liaoning Foreign Trade College, continue to carry out secondary vocational education, and then merge into Dalian Economic and Trade School. The school covers an area of 563,000 square meters, with a building area of 325,000 square meters and 11,719 students. The library has a collection of 2.961 million books and 122 laboratories of various types. There are 692 full-time teachers, including 392 with senior professional titles, 2 second-level professors, 2 doctoral supervisors, and 75 master's supervisors. There is 1 national outstanding teacher, 1 expert with special allowance from the State Council, 1 outstanding expert from Liaoning Province, 12 famous teachers, 6 outstanding teachers, 1 most beautiful teacher, 2 advanced workers in the education system, 1 outstanding talent from provincial colleges and universities, 2 outstanding young talents from the province, 2 Huang Danian-style teaching teams in Liaoning colleges and universities, 3 provincial teaching teams, and 1 excellent teaching and research team for aesthetic education. The school currently has 4 disciplines, 11 first-level disciplines, and 22 undergraduate majors. It has 6 second-level colleges and 15 departments, including the School of Economics, the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Accounting, the School of Management, the School of Art, and the School of Marxism/General Education, and recruits students from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country. The majors of International Economics and Trade and Exhibition Economy and Management are national first-class undergraduate majors. The major of International Economics and Trade is also a national characteristic major, a provincial undergraduate demonstration major, a provincial higher education comprehensive reform pilot major, a provincial undergraduate curriculum system internationalization pilot major, a provincial innovation and entrepreneurship reform pilot major, and a provincial application-oriented transformation pilot and demonstration major. 12 majors, including International Economics and Trade, Information Management and Information Systems, Accounting, E-commerce, Tourism Management, Exhibition Economy and Management, Marketing, Japanese, Logistics Management, Finance, Russian, and Financial Management, are provincial first-class undergraduate majors. The school has won 2 national first-class courses and 3 national planning textbooks; 42 provincial and above teaching achievement awards, 81 provincial first-class courses, and 17 provincial excellent textbooks. The International Commodity Trading Analysis and Simulation Laboratory is a provincial-level university key laboratory in Liaoning Province. The International Economics and Management Experimental Teaching Center, Tourism Management Experimental Teaching Center, Language Comprehensive Experimental Teaching Center, and Information Management Comprehensive Experimental Teaching Center are experimental teaching demonstration centers for ordinary colleges and universities in Liaoning Province. The nine industrial colleges, including the Cross-border E-commerce Industry College, the Cultural Tourism Industry College, the Digital Finance Industry College, the Intelligent Finance Industry College, the Design and Curation Modern Industry College, the Digital Business Industry College, the Modern Logistics Industry College, the Language Service Industry College, and the Health and Elderly Care Service Industry College, are modern industrial colleges of ordinary colleges in Liaoning Province. It has been rated as the Liaoning University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Education Base, the Liaoning Entrepreneurship Incubation Demonstration Base, the Liaoning Provincial Public Innovation Space, the Dalian Public Innovation Space, and the Dalian A-level Entrepreneurship Incubation Platform. The school has established in-depth industry-university-research cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Commerce International Business Officials Training Institute, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Commerce, the Dalian Lushunkou District People's Government, the Liaoning Provincial Foreign Trade Enterprises Association, Sinotrans Liaoning Company, Genpact (Dalian) Co., Ltd., Neusoft Group, Bank of China Dalian Branch and other governments, enterprises, institutions, and industry associations, providing a good platform for students' internships and employment. It has established friendly cooperative relations with nearly 30 universities and educational institutions in more than 10 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, and Spain, and has carried out 9 joint training dual degree programs and 18 other international cooperation and exchange programs with foreign universities. The school has 13 school-level scientific research platforms, including the Institute of International Economics and Trade, the Institute of Country Studies, and the Regional Tourism Research Center.
