Liupanshui Normal University is located in Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province, which is known as the "Cool Capital of China". It is a full-time general undergraduate college "co-built by the province and the city, with the city as the main body". In 2009, it was upgraded from Liupanshui Normal College to Liupanshui Normal University. In 2013, it obtained the qualification of a bachelor's degree awarding institution. In 2015, it was listed as a pilot college for Guizhou Province's transformation to an applied type. In 2016, it passed the undergraduate teaching work qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education and was included in the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" new master's degree awarding project construction unit in Guizhou Province; in 2017, it joined the National Alliance of Applied Technology Universities (Colleges). At present, it jointly trains master's students with Liaoning Normal University, Guizhou Normal University, Dalian University and other universities. The school covers an area of 1,310 acres and a building area of nearly 395,500 square meters. It is integrated with Minghu National Wetland Park and is known as the "Most Beautiful University in Guizhou". In 2014, it was awarded the provincial "Safe and Civilized Campus" and in 2017 it was rated as the "Provincial Civilized Campus". The total value of teaching and research equipment is 134 million yuan, and the collection of books of various types is more than 1.84 million. There are 945 faculty members in the school, including 87 senior professors, 254 associate professors, 104 doctors, 476 masters, and 112 "double-qualified" teachers. In recent years, the university has undertaken 108 national and provincial education and teaching reform projects, won 10 provincial education and teaching achievement awards, and won 1 provincial first-class university first-phase key construction (cultivation) major, 9 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 41 provincial first-class courses approved. There are 5 provincial-level scientific and technological innovation talent teams, including "Resource-based Urban Tourism Industrialization Research Team" and "Guizhou Province Tunnel Roof Visualization Intelligent Detection Scientific and Technological Innovation Talent Team", and 8 department-level innovation teams, including "Clean Coal Processing and Conversion Utilization" and "Unconventional Natural Gas Geological Evaluation and Development". There are 8 municipal-level scientific and technological innovation talent teams, including "Liupanshui Sub-plateau Coal Chemical High-efficiency Energy-saving Technology" and "Intelligent Diagnosis of Major Key Equipment Failures in Coal Mines under Big Data". Since the upgrade to a university, it has undertaken more than 2,060 scientific research projects at all levels and types, including 22 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 9 National Social Science Foundation projects, 274 provincial and ministerial projects, and won 30 provincial and ministerial scientific research achievement awards. It has built one "National Intellectual Property Information Public Service Outlet", 14 academic research institutions such as the "Three Changes" Reform Research Institute and the Guizhou Carbon Neutrality High-tech Research Institute, 175 industry-university-research cooperation bases and internship training bases.
