Liupanshui Vocational and Technical College was established in 2002. It is located in Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province, which is known as the "Cool Capital of China". It is the only comprehensive higher vocational college in Liupanshui. Since its establishment, Liupanshui Vocational and Technical College has adhered to the "Three-Line Spirit" of Liupanshui, closely followed the school motto of "Virtue, Skills, and Serving the Society", worked hard, pioneered and forged ahead, insisted on implementing the fundamental task of cultivating morality and cultivating people, followed the requirements of vocational education in the new era, based on the characteristics of integrating production and education, and constantly innovated the concept of education and teaching, the system and mechanism of running schools, and the model of talent training, providing strong technical and skilled personnel support for regional economic and social development. In order to effectively implement the requirements for high-quality development of vocational education in the new era, and closely match the development goals such as the "Opinions of the State Council on Supporting Guizhou to Break New Ground in the Great Development of the Western Region in the New Era", the Second Party Congress of the College proposed the development goals of "improving the ability to run schools, implementing the 'two-wheel' driven development strategy, deepening three reforms, achieving four breakthroughs, and implementing five batches of projects". We always adhere to serving the Party and the country, serving the economic and social development of Liupanshui, and serving the healthy growth and development of students, and building the college into a high-level vocational school with advanced school-running concepts, a sound governance system, close integration of production and education, and distinctive brand characteristics. 1. School scale The college covers an area of 333,000 square meters and a building area of 192,000 square meters. There are currently 8,856 full-time vocational students. 2. Professional settings The college has 8 secondary departments including industry, medicine, nursing, finance, bioengineering, business management, information engineering, and social sciences, with 60 majors including intelligent coal mining technology, nursing, big data and accounting. The college closely combines the "three major strategies" of Liupanshui, focuses on seven major industrial sectors, keeps a close eye on the first industry of energy and energy chemical industry in Liupanshui City, adjusts the professional structure in a timely manner, and has 25 majors for enrollment all year round. It has obtained 3 key majors recognized by the Ministry of Education, 1 provincial high-level professional group project, 2 provincial characteristic key major projects, and 11 "Skill Guizhou" action plan projects. It has established 1 provincial key professional group and 3 provincial key majors. 3. Faculty The college currently has 504 faculty members. Among them, there are 372 full-time teachers, 92 masters, 111 associate professors and above, 1 provincial vocational education master, 2 visiting scholars of "middle-aged and young key teachers", 3 visiting scholars of "Western Light", and 4 visiting scholars of "Jiaxiu Light". 4. The College of Infrastructure has a total value of teaching instruments and equipment of nearly 200 million yuan, and the average value of teaching equipment per student is 23,900 yuan. There are more than 20 teaching projects such as the 3D Printing Collaborative Innovation Center, Mining Simulation Tunnel and Simulation Excavation Training Base, and Smart Finance Open Training Base. The mechatronics technology major was approved as a pilot project of the SGAVE project of Sino-German Advanced Vocational Education by the Ministry of Education, and was approved for 5 "1+X" certificate system pilots. In 2023, the Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Energy Bureau and other five departments jointly awarded the establishment of the "Guizhou Energy Industry Skilled Talent Training Base", with an initial investment of more than 10 million yuan. At the same time, the Guizhou Elderly Care Service Talent Training Base and the Liupanshui Vocational Skills Training Base were built. The Demonstration Virtual Simulation Training Base for Energy and Energy Chemical Vocational Education was approved by the Ministry of Education; it was approved as the second batch of national school emergency education pilot schools. 5. Talent Training In the past three years, the college has an average of about 3,000 graduates per year, and employment is mainly in the province, and Guangdong and Zhejiang are the majority outside the province. In 2022, 78.2% of the 2,950 graduates were employed in the province, and the cities with large employment were Liupanshui (37.7%), Bijie (14.7%), and Guiyang (9.1%). The professional group of intelligent mining technology in coal mines is a high-level professional group approved by the provincial government. It has trained more than 5,000 high-quality technical and skilled personnel and more than 20,000 coal mine workers. It has set up 5 teaching points in coal mine enterprises and actively carried out the "education in enterprises" campaign to improve the academic qualifications and skills of employees in coal mine enterprises. It has also hosted the Vocational Skills Competition for Teachers and Students of Vocational Colleges in Guizhou Province many times.
