Luliang University is located in Xincheng District, Lishi District, Luliang City, Shanxi Province. It is the only provincial comprehensive undergraduate college in Luliang City. The school was founded in 1978 and was originally called the Luliang College of Shanxi Normal University. In 1984, Luliang Normal College was established. In 1989, it merged with the Luliang Polytechnic College under construction to form Luliang Higher Vocational College. In 2001, the school and Taiyuan Normal University jointly organized undergraduate education. In March 2010, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to a general undergraduate college. In 2021, it was listed as an applied undergraduate college construction unit by the Provincial Department of Education. In the 45 years since the school was established, it has always insisted on educating people for the party, cultivating talents for the country, and cultivating seedlings for the land. It insists on taking root in Luliang, serving Luliang, researching Luliang, and contributing to Luliang. Adhering to the school motto of "Hongyi Xingzhi", it continues to forge ahead, and a group of well-known Chinese and foreign scholars such as Li Danchu, Wang Jiaqi, and Yan Yubin have emerged. At present, the school has three campuses: the main campus, the Innovation Port campus and the Jiaokou branch, covering an area of 1.3199 million square meters and a building area of 665,300 square meters. There are more than 20,000 full-time undergraduate students. There are 16 teaching units, 1 comprehensive internship and training base (Jiaokou branch), 45 undergraduate majors, including 25 2A batch admission majors in the province, covering 9 major disciplines such as literature, science, engineering, law, agriculture, management, education, history, and art. The school adheres to the strategy of "teaching-based school", and will carry forward the Luliang spirit and inherit the Jinsui culture throughout the whole process of moral education, and build a characteristic education model with "three cultures" as the carrier. It has 7 national first-class professional construction sites, 7 provincial first-class professional construction sites, and 29 provincial first-class courses. The courses have been selected for the Ministry of Education's "Report on the Development of Red Cultural Resources in Colleges and Universities", and won many first and second prizes for teaching achievements in Shanxi Province. The response to the soul-building education has been reported by mainstream national media such as the People's Daily and China Education Daily. It has been selected as a pilot institution of the Ministry of Education's "Scientific Work Capacity Improvement Plan (Hundreds of Millions of Projects)", the first batch of construction units of the "School-Enterprise Collaborative Employment Entrepreneurship Innovation Demonstration Practice Base" of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Shanxi Province Master's Degree Awarding Project Cultivation Construction Unit. The 5G+ Smart Mine Demonstration Simulation Teaching Project was shortlisted for the "5G+ Smart Education" application pilot project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Education, becoming the only unit in Shanxi Province to obtain the project application pilot. 33 employment education projects were approved by the Ministry of Education. Zhongyang Paper-cutting and Xiaoyi Shadow Puppet Show Inheritance Base were selected as the Shanxi Province Excellent Traditional Culture Inheritance Base. The school adheres to the strategy of "strengthening the school through scientific research", establishes the discipline layout of "excellent science and engineering, distinctive liberal arts, exquisite arts and sports, and excellent normal", and forms a "2+X" master's degree authorization unit construction layout. The school currently has 6 provincial scientific research platforms, including the material science and engineering disciplines of Shanxi Province's "1331 Project", the provincial key research center for characteristic plant functional components engineering in Shanxi Province, the provincial key innovation team for fault diagnosis and health management technology of coal mine machinery and equipment, the provincial collaborative innovation center for deep processing of characteristic agricultural products, and the provincial key laboratory cultivation base for Luliang forest and fruit plant chemistry, as well as 7 Luliang key laboratories, including the characteristic plant resource chemistry laboratory and the organic waste resource comprehensive utilization laboratory. It has successively undertaken more than 10 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Social Science Foundation, and the Ministry of Education. It has been approved as a key think tank research project on red culture by the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee. The school adheres to the strategy of "promoting the school with talents" and strives to build a higher-level teacher system. There are more than 1,200 faculty and staff, 892 full-time teachers, including 274 teachers with senior professional titles and 227 doctors (including those studying). The school has more than 30 outstanding talents at the national and provincial levels, including national outstanding teachers, chief experts of the Ministry of Education's "Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project", leading talents in philosophy and social sciences of the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program", national cultural celebrities and "Four Ones" talents, candidates of the National Hundred Thousand Talents Program, "Changjiang Scholars" of the Ministry of Education, and young top talents of the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program". More than 30 well-known experts, including professors and doctoral supervisors from Peking University, Nanjing Normal University, Shanxi University and other institutions, have been flexibly introduced as academic deans, famous teachers, and specially-appointed professors. The school adheres to the strategy of "student honor school", continuously strengthens the core position of talent training, takes professional certification, review and evaluation, and master's degree construction as the driving force, and builds a large practice system of on-campus training + off-campus practice around the school-running direction of "one department, one feature, one teacher, one direction, and one life, one skill". The Jiaokou internship training base has formed a unique practical education model. Students have achieved outstanding results in various disciplines in the country. The "Danchu Outstanding Talents" training program has been launched, and outstanding students have been selected to exchange and study at Xi'an Jiaotong University. Employers give graduates a high evaluation of "being able to endure hardships, be useful, and stay". The school insists on open education and serves the regional economic and social transformation. It has established strategic cooperation relations with many key domestic and foreign universities such as the Russian State Forestry University, the Malaysian University of Science, the Korean Jeonju University, Shanxi University, and the North China University. With local enterprises (industries), the Luliang Intelligent Big Data Industry Technology Innovation Research Institute, the Utility New Functional Materials Industry-University-Research Strategic Alliance, the Shanxi Carbon-Based New Materials Experimental Center, and the Integrated Circuit Industry College have been jointly established. Together with the competent departments of local governments, we have built the Yellow River Culture Research Center, the Luliang Spirit Research Center, the Jinsui Research Center, the Luliang University and Primary and Secondary School Ideological and Political Courses Integrated Construction Research Center, the Yu Chenglong Integrity Culture Research and Communication Center, and the Luliang Rural Revitalization Research Institute. Five consecutive "Luliang Forums" and a series of large-scale academic conferences have been held.
