Luoyang Normal University is a provincial general undergraduate college located in Luoyang, the thousand-year-old imperial capital, the city of peonies, and the starting point of the Silk Road. The school is located on the bank of the Yi River and at the foot of Wan'an Mountain, where the Imperial College of the Eastern Han Dynasty originated. Looking south to the hometown of the two Cheng brothers, the stories of Chengmen Lixue and Lutai Wangdao are spread; looking west to Guanlin and the world cultural heritage Longmen Grottoes, the brilliant light of the world cultural heritage blooms. The predecessor of the school was the Henan Provincial Heluo Normal School, which was founded in 1916. After going through the stages of Henan Provincial Fourth Normal School, Henan Provincial Luoyang Normal School, Luoyang Normal College, and Luoyang Normal College, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college in 2000 and was named as it is now. In 2007, the school passed the undergraduate teaching work level evaluation of the Ministry of Education with excellent results. In 2011, it was approved as a pilot unit for the cultivation of professional degree postgraduates of Master of Education, and in 2015, it was approved for the admission of part-time postgraduates. In 2018, the university passed the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education with excellent results.
