The Macau Polytechnic University is a multidisciplinary, application-oriented public institution of higher learning that places equal emphasis on teaching and research. It was founded in 1981 and was formerly known as the Polytechnic Institute of East Asia University. It was renamed the Macau Polytechnic Institute in 1991 and was renamed the Macau Polytechnic University on March 1, 2022. It takes "General and Specialized, Integration of Chinese and Western Education" as its motto, upholds the concept of "taking root in Macau, relying on the motherland, facing the world, and striving for first-class", and takes "internationalization of teaching standards, standardization of scientific research, electronicization of campus facilities, and legalization of administrative work" as its school governance standards.
