The hometown of the immortal poet, a famous city of science and technology, is the birthplace of the pearl of higher vocational education in Bashu; at the foot of Fule Mountain, beside the Furong River, there is a holy place for reading and a palace of craftsmen. Mianyang Vocational and Technical College is a comprehensive higher vocational college organized by the People's Government of Mianyang City. In 2001, with the approval of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, Mianyang Vocational and Technical College was established on the basis of the former Sichuan Building Materials Industry School. The history of the school can be traced back to the Jiangsu Provincial Suqian Glass Vocational School established in 1933. The school has changed its location and name several times, and has gone through the development stages of Jiangsu Provincial Suqian Glass Vocational School, Sichuan Provincial Jiangjin Kiln Technology School, Chongqing Construction Engineering School, Sichuan Non-metallic Mining Part-time Work and Study Secondary Technical School, and Sichuan Building Materials Industry School. It has successively won honors such as the National Advanced Unit of Vocational Education, the National Demonstration Higher Vocational College, the Best Civilized Unit of Sichuan Province, the Advanced Unit of Employment of College Graduates in Sichuan Province, the Advanced Collective of Paired Assistance to Poor Counties in Tibetan and Yi Areas in Sichuan Province, and the Advanced Collective of Building China Science and Technology City and Western Modern Strong City in Mianyang City. It has been listed as the first batch of pilot colleges for high-end technical skills undergraduate education in Sichuan Province, the first batch of pilot colleges for modern apprenticeship system in Sichuan Province, the pilot colleges for comprehensive innovation and reform experiments in Sichuan Province, and the high-quality higher vocational colleges in Sichuan Province. In October 2021, it was listed as a higher vocational college for the construction of the "Double High Plan" in Sichuan Province. The school covers an area of 860.08 acres, with a school building area of 341,000 square meters and a total fixed asset value of 630 million yuan, including 15,700 sets of teaching experimental training instruments and equipment, 61,500 computers for teaching, 983,800 paper books in the library, and 612,000 electronic books. It has 8 secondary teaching units, including the School of Marxism, the School of Public Education, the School of Materials and Construction, the School of Electronics and Information, the School of Finance and Business, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, the School of Tourism and Management, and the School of Art and Design. It has opened 2 undergraduate majors and 40 junior college majors, covering 13 major categories and 30 professional fields such as intelligent manufacturing and e-commerce. There are more than 12,000 students in higher vocational education, secondary vocational education, applied undergraduate education, and international students along the Belt and Road. The school currently has 802 faculty members, 239 senior professional titles, and 335 master's degrees and above. There are 2 excellent teaching teams in Sichuan Province, 2 engineering and technology innovation teams in Sichuan universities, 1 famous teacher in Sichuan Province, 5 members of the Ministry of Education's Industry Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee, 2 winners of the Huang Yanpei Outstanding Teacher Award, and 3 winners of the National Skilled Talent Cultivation Outstanding Contribution Award. There are 5 national demonstration construction majors, 2 national service industry capacity building majors, 4 national industry backbone construction majors, 1 national vocational school tourism major demonstration site, 1 Sichuan Province boutique major, 3 Sichuan Province key construction majors, 6 Sichuan Province modern apprenticeship pilot majors, more than 100 national authorized patents, and nearly 30 provincial and municipal teaching achievement awards and scientific and technological progress awards. Our school has always adhered to serving the construction of China's science and technology city and the development of regional industries, vigorously promoting the integration of production and education and collaborative education with the concept of modern vocational education, and has formed the characteristics of outstanding characteristics in the field of building materials, obvious advantages in the electronic information industry, joint education of government, school, enterprise and research, and collaborative innovation of military-civilian integration. The school has long cooperated with China Academy of Engineering Physics, China Ordnance 58th Research Institute, Changhong, Jiuzhou and other institutions and enterprises, and has established 6 industrial colleges such as Changhong Electronic Industry College, China (Mianyang) Science and Technology City Software College, and Dongcai Technology New Materials Industry College. It has built a number of industry-university-research cooperation platforms such as the military-civilian integration teacher training base and the modern testing technology engineering center. There are currently 1 national training base, 4 provincial training bases, 6 skill master studios, and 2 provincial industry-education integration demonstration projects. The school has jointly organized 13 higher vocational colleges and 22 enterprises across the country to lead the construction of the "Building Materials Engineering Technology Professional Teaching Resource Library" project, which has received special support from the Ministry of Education. It has hosted many events such as the China Cement Canoe Race, the National Cement Industry Analysis and Physical Inspection Skills Competition Finals, and the National Vocational College Building Materials Professional Student Vocational Skills Competition. The Mianyang Vocational Education Group, which was established by the school, was identified as the second batch of national demonstration vocational education group cultivation units; the Mianyang Vocational Education Research Center, which was established by the school, publishes more than 50 topics and projects each year, making positive contributions to promoting the development of regional vocational education. The school has an innovation and entrepreneurship training college, and has established the Fule Mianyang University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park and Maker Club with a diversified system of government-led, school-supervised, and enterprise-run. It has been awarded the National Mass Innovation Space by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and has been upgraded to a provincial university science and technology park, ranking among the top 50 innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration schools in the country's higher vocational colleges. The school actively explores the path of multi-level school-running through cooperation with undergraduate colleges and industry enterprises at home and abroad. Cooperating with Southwest University of Science and Technology and Mianyang Normal University to jointly cultivate high-end technical and skilled undergraduate talents, it has built a platform for students to develop upward; working with well-known domestic and foreign companies such as BOE, Geely Automobile, Stanley Black & Decker to jointly build school-enterprise cooperation order classes, further strengthening professional construction and improving the quality of talent training. The school has made breakthrough progress in all aspects of Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools by introducing high-quality professional courses, teacher exchanges and visits, and student "junior college to undergraduate" study abroad and training. It has carried out exchanges and cooperation with more than 20 colleges and universities in countries and regions such as South Korea, Canada, Germany, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, etc., and has recruited international students from "Belt and Road" countries such as Laos, Indonesia, Cambodia, Tajikistan, etc., which has enhanced the school's ability to connect with international vocational education and further improved its internationalization level.
