Minjiang University is located in Fuzhou City, the capital of Fujian Province. It is a full-time general undergraduate university established in 2002 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor is Fuzhou Normal College founded in 1958 and Minjiang Vocational University founded in 1984 (referred to as "Min University", including the Fuzhou Arts and Crafts School merged in 2001).
