Minzu University of China is a university jointly established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Education, and the Beijing Municipal Government. The predecessor of the school was the Yan'an Nationalities College established in 1941. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, with the approval of the central government, the Central Institute for Nationalities was established in Beijing in 1951, and was renamed Minzu University of China in November 1993. In 1999 and 2004, the school successively entered the national "211 Project" and "985 Project"; in 2017, it entered the ranks of Class A universities in the "Double First-Class" construction. The leadership of the Party and the country has always been very concerned about and attached great importance to the construction and development of Minzu University of China. Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and other older generation party and state leaders have met with representatives of teachers and students of the school 17 times. In 2009, when inspecting the school, Comrade Xi Jinping pointed out: "Minzu University of China plays an important role in my country's higher education system and the cause of national unity and progress, and has made important contributions to the cause of national unity and progress and the economic, social and cultural construction of ethnic regions." After more than 70 years of development and construction and the unremitting efforts of several generations, the school has become an important highland for practicing political school building, an important position for forging a strong sense of community of the Chinese nation, an important base for cultivating outstanding talents of all ethnic groups, an important base for research on ethnic theory and policy, and an important base for inheriting and promoting the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Since its establishment, the school has sent more than 200,000 graduates of all ethnic groups to the country. The school currently has three campuses in Haidian, Fengtai and Hainan, and has established a "one school, three sites" school-running pattern. At present, all teachers, students and staff of the school are deeply studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, especially General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on strengthening and improving ethnic work. With the forging of a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation as the main line, we will comprehensively promote the implementation of the five major strategies of building a school on quality, strengthening the school with talents, developing the school with characteristics, strengthening the school with management and running the school in an open manner. With the spirit of reform and innovation and the courage to overcome difficulties, we will strive to promote the construction of "Double First-Class" universities, embark on a new journey of school development, and create a new situation for the school's cause.
