Nanchang Hangkong University of Science and Technology is an applied undergraduate college with engineering and management as the main disciplines, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as engineering, management, literature, science, economics, and art. The college was approved by the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education and the Jiangxi Provincial Planning and Development Commission for trial operation in July 2001, and is one of the first independent colleges confirmed by the Ministry of Education. Since its establishment, the college has conscientiously implemented the party's education policy, adhered to the fine traditions and style formed by Nanchang Hangkong University's more than 60 years of rigorous school management, served the development of the country's aviation industry and local social economy, firmly established the educational concept of "education-oriented, quality first", followed the school motto of "virtue and erudition, self-reliance and meritorious service", and paid close attention to the construction of school spirit and style, actively cultivated and practiced the college's values of "courage to take responsibility and stop at perfection", and insisted on taking the development path of "oriented by social needs, highlighting the quality and characteristics of school management in the combination of industry and academia", and is committed to cultivating high-level applied talents with comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physique, beauty, and labor, solid foundation, excellent quality, innovative spirit and practical ability. The college is located in the Science and Education City of Gongqing City, in the middle of the Changjiu Economic Zone, on the southern foot of Mount Lushan and on the shore of Poyang Lake. The Science and Education City is an ecological garden higher education zone built by the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government. The total construction investment of the college is nearly 700 million yuan, covering an area of more than 1,000 acres and a building area of 200,000 square meters. The college actively builds a modern campus with beautiful ecology, first-class service facilities and advanced teaching equipment with the concept of intelligent campus management. The college currently has five teaching departments, including the Department of Mechanical Materials, the Department of Information and Electronics, the Department of Economics and Management, the Department of Arts, and the Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences. It has 24 undergraduate majors and more than 11,000 students. The college has a team of teachers with superb business and excellent teacher ethics. Among them, teachers with postgraduate degrees or above account for 78% of the teachers, and teachers with senior professional titles account for 34% of the teachers. Through 20 years of school accumulation, the college relies on the strong and advantageous teaching resources of Nanchang Hangkong University, and its teaching strength continues to grow, teaching facilities are complete, aviation characteristics are distinct, and engineering majors have obvious advantages. The college attaches great importance to cooperation with industries and enterprises, and has established close cooperative relations with 27 companies including China Aviation Industry Corporation and its subsidiaries. The college has strengthened international exchanges and cooperation, signed friendly cooperation agreements with universities in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, South Korea and other countries, and established an exchange student exchange mechanism with universities in Taiwan, China. The college's excellent school conditions and rigorous school-running style provide a solid guarantee for the quality of talent training. In the past five years, the college has won more than 300 national first, second and third prizes and outstanding organization awards in competitions such as the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, Challenge Cup, China International Aircraft Design Challenge, National College Student Engineering Training Comprehensive Ability Competition, National College Student Nondestructive Testing (Ultrasonic) Skills Competition, National College Student English Competition, and National College Student Electronic Design Competition. In 2021, the college won the bronze medal in the national competition of the 7th China International "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The college's graduate entrance examination rate and employment rate have always been among the best in similar colleges in the province. Since its establishment, nearly 1,800 graduates of the college have been admitted to universities such as City University of Hong Kong, Harbin Institute of Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, Jinan University, Shanghai University, China University of Geosciences, China University of Petroleum, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, and Civil Aviation University of China to pursue master's degrees. The college was once ranked among the top 100 in Wu Shulian's ranking of freshman quality and teacher innovation ability in similar colleges.
