Nanning Institute of Technology, formerly known as Bowen School of Management of Guilin University of Technology, was founded in April 2002. In May 2021, it was approved by the Ministry of Education and confirmed as an independent undergraduate-level private general higher education school, and was renamed to its current name. The school currently has two campuses, Nanning ASEAN and Guilin Yanshan. The Nanning ASEAN campus is located in the Nanning Education Park of the Guangxi-ASEAN Economic and Technological Development Zone, covering an area of 1,038 acres, with a total planned construction area of 760,000 square meters; the Guilin Yanshan campus is located in the Yanshan Education Park. The park covers an area of 730 acres, with a total planned construction area of 480,000 square meters. The school has modern teaching buildings, laboratories with advanced functions, and training rooms; well-equipped dormitories, canteens, and sports venues, with an elegant environment and convenient life. The school adheres to the school motto of "morality, erudition, self-improvement, and perseverance" and adheres to the school-running philosophy of "education-oriented, quality-based school, and strong school with characteristics", forming a distinctive and profound connotation of "civil engineering, financial management, art and Six major professional groups: media, computer and information technology, big data and artificial intelligence, and humanities education. It currently offers 39 undergraduate majors, with 7 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 2 advantageous specialty majors in Guangxi private universities, 3 first-class undergraduate courses at the autonomous region level, 1 characteristic major in Guangxi universities, and 1 Guangxi transformation pilot professional group. Guangxi private universities have 5 key construction majors, 1 autonomous region innovation and entrepreneurship education reform demonstration major, 1 autonomous region innovation and entrepreneurship teaching team, 1 autonomous region collaborative education platform, 1 district-level ideological and political demonstration course, and the construction of an autonomous region-level virtual teaching and research office 1 pilot. It has teaching units such as the School of Civil and Engineering, the School of Business, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Art and Media, the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, and the School of Marxism, with more than 24,000 students on campus. In recent years, teachers have presided over and participated in more than 650 teaching and scientific research projects, including more than 80 projects at the provincial and ministerial levels and above. They have published more than 1,240 academic papers, obtained 23 patents, published 25 monographs and textbooks, and won the Autonomous Region Teaching Award. Achievement awards include 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes, and 2 third prizes. The school focuses on cultivating students’ practical abilities and has more than 100 off-campus internship bases. Students are highly praised by society and welcomed by enterprises for their solid professional foundation and strong practical ability. In recent years, students have won more than 400 national awards and more than 1,400 provincial and ministerial awards in subject competitions such as the National College Student Smart Car Competition, English Competition, "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and Electronic Design Competition.
