Nantong University Xinglin College is an independent undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education in May 2005. In May 2014, it was approved by the Jiangsu Provincial Public Institution Registration and Administration Bureau to be registered as a public institution. The college was founded in February 1999. It was formerly known as Nantong Medical College Xinglin College. In May 2004, after the former Nantong Medical College, Nantong Institute of Technology and Nantong Normal College merged to form Nantong University, it was renamed Nantong University Xinglin College. The organizer of the college, Nantong University, is a comprehensive university jointly established by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Transport. It is a university under the Jiangsu High-level Construction Peak Plan. The school's comprehensive strength ranks 102nd in the "2023 China University Evaluation", and the Nature Index ranks 76th among mainland universities. The ESI ranks 113th in the comprehensive ranking of mainland universities. It has 3 postdoctoral mobile stations, 5 first-level doctoral programs, 22 first-level master's programs, 22 master's professional degree programs, 9 disciplines are in the top 1% of the ESI discipline global ranking, 2 advantageous disciplines, 8 key disciplines, 30 key clinical medicine specialties in Jiangsu universities, and 1,619 doctoral and master's tutors. There are more than 100 outstanding talents of various types, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, distinguished professors of the "Changjiang Scholars Award Program" of the Ministry of Education, Class B leading talents of the National Major Talent Program, cultural celebrities of the Central Propaganda Department and "Four Batches" talents. Since the resumption of the college entrance examination in 1977, a total of 3 undergraduate graduates have been selected as academicians of the two academies, ranking 35th among universities nationwide. Relying on the high-quality educational resources and school-running advantages of Nantong University, the college has closely combined with local economic and social needs, and has gradually embarked on a distinctive school-running practice path. The comprehensive strength of the college ranks 25th in the "2023 National Independent College Ranking". Qidong City, where the main campus of the college is located, is located on the southeast coast of Jiangsu Province, at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the East China Sea, and has a unique geographical advantage. The college aims to build an ecological, garden-style, digital, and sea-view campus, with a total planned area of more than 1,200 acres, a school building area of 227,800 square meters, and can accommodate 10,000 people. The campus has student activity venues such as the College Student Activity Center, standard stadium, indoor gymnasium, football field, basketball court, badminton hall, basketball hall, table tennis hall, and gym, and the smart campus system continues to upgrade. The college's medical majors are currently being run in the Chongchuan campus, which is located in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, "China's first modern city" and one of the first coastal open cities in my country. Over the past two decades, the college has formed its own educational philosophy: adhering to the century-old tradition of Nantong University and integrating modern educational ideas; relying on the comprehensive advantages of the university to scientifically develop its own characteristics; aiming to cultivate outstanding application-oriented talents and contribute to local economic development. The college currently has more than 12,500 full-time undergraduate students, with 7 departments including the Basic Department, the Department of Humanities, the Department of Science, the Department of Economics and Management, the Department of Information, the Department of Engineering, and the Department of Medicine, and 44 undergraduate majors, covering seven major disciplines including economics, literature, science, engineering, medicine, management and art. The college shares affiliated hospitals and teaching hospitals with Nantong University in the medical clinical teaching practice, and has established 9 affiliated hospitals of its own.
