The Chinese People's Liberation Army Naval Command College is the highest institution of learning in the Navy. It is mainly responsible for training middle and senior naval command cadres, naval army and above staff, and military master and doctoral students. The college is located in Nanjing and covers an area of more than 480,000 square meters. The Chinese People's Liberation Army Naval Command College has a training department, a political department, a college affairs department, a scientific research department, and a campaign command department, a tactical command department, a political command department, a logistics command department, a graduate management team, and a campaign training class. The predecessor of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Naval Command College was the Naval Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Military Academy, with Marshal Liu Bocheng as the president. It was founded on May 16, 1952. On October 8, 1957, the Naval Department was expanded to the Naval Military Academy. On October 1, 1960, the academy was renamed the Naval Academy. In 1973, the Central Military Commission decided to establish the Naval Military and Political Cadre School on the site of the former Naval Academy. In January 1978, the Naval Military and Political Cadre School was restored to the Naval Academy. On June 9, 1986, it was renamed the Naval Command College and has remained so ever since. Since its establishment, the college has been cared for by the leaders of the Party and the country. Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Dong Biwu, Chen Yi, Ye Jianying and other older generation proletarian revolutionaries have met with the college cadres, students or visited the college. On May 20, 1991, Jiang Zemin, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Military Commission, personally wrote the name of the college. The college adheres to the principle of "education should be oriented to modernization, the world and the future", and conscientiously implements the school-running idea of "college education must serve the army construction, adapt to the needs of peacetime force construction, and adapt to the needs of future wars". The Chinese People's Liberation Army Naval Command College has a library, a naval campaign and tactics center laboratory, an educational technology center, a graduate education center, as well as naval campaign professional classrooms, naval joint tactics professional classrooms, naval aviation tactics professional classrooms, southeast coastal military intelligence special training room, naval modern equipment special training room, and Chinese Navy History Museum and other teaching facilities. The library covers an area of 3,000 square meters and has a collection of 425,000 books. It has formed a collection system featuring naval strategy, campaigns, tactics, and naval military, political, and logistical command, and has realized automatic query of campus document information managed by computers. The Naval Campaign and Tactics Center Laboratory is a key construction laboratory of the entire army. Its simulation training system uses computers and other auxiliary equipment to simulate the naval campaign process and combat command environment, allowing trainees to conduct multi-level confrontation exercises under conditions close to actual combat. The breakthroughs made by the system in the quantitative analysis of naval operations have made my country one of the few countries in the world with a naval campaign-level simulation training system. The Chinese People's Liberation Army Naval Command College publishes three journals: "Naval Academic Research", "Foreign Naval Training" and "Navy Translation". Among them, "Naval Academic Research" was rated as a key academic journal of the entire army and included in the "China Military Yearbook".
