The Naval Medical University is located in Shanghai. It was founded in 1949 and was then called the People's Medical College of the East China Military Region. In 1951, it was named the Second Military Medical University. In 2015, it was transferred from the former General Logistics Department to the Training and Management Department of the Central Military Commission. In 2017, it was transferred to the Navy and the Naval Medical University was established. It can be called the Second Military Medical University. The school is a national key medical university that trains specialized talents in the health industry. Over the past 70 years, the school has always adhered to the school motto of "truth-seeking, innovation, rigor, and dedication", and gradually formed a "Red Cross Square Culture" with "liberal arts, benevolence, and practice" as the spiritual core, forming a distinctive school-running feature, and laying a solid foundation for the construction and development of the school. The school's comprehensive strength leads the entire army. The school is now a national "double first-class" key discipline construction university, a national "211 Project" key construction university, and one of the 36 "National Life Science and Technology Talent Training Bases". Our school has the only eight-year major in traditional Chinese medicine in the country. The existing naval medical department, health service department, traditional Chinese medicine department, and anesthesia department are all the only professional departments in the entire army.
