Ningxia Industrial Vocational College is located in the beautiful "Lake City on the Great Wall" Yinchuan City. It was established in 1981 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is a general higher vocational college with engineering as the main subject and national enrollment qualification. The college is affiliated to Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group and is the employee training center of Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group. It has the national second-level safety production training qualification. The college has 6 teaching departments, including the Department of Mining Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Chemical Engineering, the Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Training Workshop, the Comprehensive Mining and Excavation Training Workshop, and the Department of Adult Education. There are 17 majors, including applied chemical technology, chemical equipment maintenance technology, coal mining technology, mining electromechanical, mine ventilation and safety, coal deep processing and utilization, and mine surveying. Among them, mechatronics technology, coal mining technology, and coal deep processing and utilization were rated as national-level boutique majors and autonomous region-level backbone demonstration majors respectively. In 2011, the majors of mining electromechanical and coal mining technology were listed as the "enhancing professional service industry development capabilities" project supported by the central government. The college covers an area of 110,000 square meters and a construction area of 49,000 square meters. The total value of teaching equipment is 39.02 million yuan, the library has 135,000 books and 1.2T electronic books. It has a "core 10G, convergence 1G, desktop 100M" campus network system and a complete campus security monitoring system. The college has 2 first-class domestic large-scale training workshops for comprehensive mining and excavation, electromechanical equipment, and 15 professional laboratories with advanced equipment and complete facilities. The 14 pairs of production mines, 3 coal washing plants and mechanical equipment maintenance centers under Shenhua Ningmei Group are all off-campus training bases of the college, which can meet the needs of practical teaching, on-the-job internships, and employee training. The college currently has 126 full-time teachers, including 27 senior titles and 44 intermediate titles; among the young teachers, 6 have master's degrees or above, and 14 are studying for a master's degree. There are 1,514 full-time students. The school-running enterprise-Shenhua Ningmei Group is the largest state-owned enterprise in the autonomous region. It is a large-scale comprehensive energy group mainly engaged in coal mining, washing and coal chemical industry, power generation, machinery maintenance and manufacturing. The strong strength of the enterprise provides all-round support and guarantee for the development of the college.
