Ningxia Vocational College of Art is located in Ningxia Vocational Education Park, Xixia District, Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is a full-time public general higher vocational college. Over the past 40 years since its establishment, the college has been rooted in the fertile soil of Ningxia's cultural prosperity, absorbing the charm of "Jiangnan on the Great Wall", adhering to the college spirit of "virtue and art, art and literature complement each other" and the school motto of "pursuing beauty and truth, innovation and excellence", and has cultivated batches of outstanding professional talents for the high-quality development of the autonomous region's culture and tourism industry. At present, it has developed into a national cultural cadre training base, a supporting unit of the Ningxia training base of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and a continuing education base for professional and technical personnel of the Autonomous Region Human Resources and Social Security Department, becoming a cradle for the growth of various artistic talents and artists in Ningxia, the western region and even the whole country. The history of the college can be traced back to the Ningxia Art School, which was planned and built in 1979. In May 1981, with the approval of the former Autonomous Region Cultural Bureau, the original site of the Ningxia Exhibition Hall was assigned to the Ningxia Art School as the school site of the Ningxia Art School. In May 1983, the Ningxia Film Technical School was merged into the Ningxia Art School. In 2013, the new campus of the college was built and put into use in the Ningxia Vocational Education Park in Xixia District, Yinchuan City. In February 2014, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Government officially approved the establishment of Ningxia Art Vocational College. In April of the same year, the college successfully completed the filing work and officially became a public full-time comprehensive higher art college. The college covers an area of 188 acres and a building area of 47,300 square meters. It has rich collections of books and audio-visual materials, advanced educational and teaching facilities, a strong campus cultural atmosphere, and distinctive professional characteristics. There are 153 faculty and staff, including 103 full-time teachers, 39 full-time teachers with associate senior titles or above, and 85 "double-qualified" teachers. The college mainly provides junior college education, as well as undergraduate and adult education undergraduate, junior college and some secondary vocational art majors. The college has six secondary teaching units, namely the Department of Music, the Department of Dance, the Department of Fine Arts, the Department of Drama and Film, the Department of Public Affairs and the Department of Marxist Teaching and Research. It offers more than 20 majors in 12 categories. The higher vocational majors include: music performance, dance performance, art design, tour guide, cultural industry operation and management, drama and film performance, broadcasting and hosting, online live broadcast and operation, etc. 17 majors, and the secondary vocational majors include 5 majors such as child care, dance performance, Qinqiang performance, Peking opera, and acrobatic performance. In the course of more than 40 years of art education and teaching, the college has trained thousands of outstanding art talents in and outside the region, including Heili, a vocal music professor at the Central University for Nationalities, Zhao Yong, a vocal music professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Tao Hong, a famous film and television actor, Shu Tong, a professor at the Peking Opera Department of the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Opera and a national first-class actor, Wang Feizhou, the former artistic director of the National Synchronized Swimming Team, Liu Jing, the president of the Ningxia Peking Opera Theater and the winner of the "Plum Blossom Performance Award" of the China Drama Award, and Hou Yan, the president of the Ningxia Qin Opera Theater and the winner of the "Plum Blossom Performance Award" of the China Drama Award. These outstanding art talents have left their footprints in the college and inspired later students to move forward courageously. The main artistic backbones of the cultural centers (stations) of cities and counties in the region and the main performing staff of professional art academies and troupes all graduated from Ningxia Art Vocational College. Some graduates have taken up leadership positions in art academies and cultural tourism departments due to their outstanding performance; a group of outstanding students are active in domestic art academies and troupes. The college has participated in major performances such as the dance dramas "The Moon on Helan" and "Flowers", the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics "Flowers in My Heart Are Hot", the large-scale dance epic "The Road to Rejuvenation" for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the autonomous region "Children of Sais are Loyal to the Party". Batches of students have received good art education here, stepped onto the social stage, and realized their life values.
