Ningxia Vocational and Technical College Ningxia Open University is a comprehensive university affiliated to the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, which integrates higher vocational education, adult education, non-academic education, and continuing education. It undertakes the important responsibility of improving Ningxia's vocational education system and building a skill-based society, and the historical mission of building Ningxia's lifelong education system and building a learning society. The school was established in April 2002 with the approval of the Autonomous Region People's Government. It was formed by the merger of the former Ningxia Radio and Television University, Ningxia Heavy Industry Workers University, Ningxia Workers Science and Technology College, and Ningxia Mechanical Technician School. It was officially established in July 2004. After 2005, Ningxia Agricultural School, Ningxia Light Industry School, Ningxia Farm Reclamation Workers Secondary Vocational School, and Ningxia People's Armed School were successively incorporated into the school. The school is one of the 100 national exemplary higher vocational colleges, the host construction unit of the higher vocational education animal husbandry and veterinary professional resource library, a national high-quality higher vocational college, a national high-skilled talent training base and a national professional and technical personnel continuing education base, the first batch of "Vocational College Digital Campus Construction Experimental School" in the country, the national pilot college for directional training of non-commissioned officers, the first batch of "Modern Apprenticeship System" pilot units of the Ministry of Education, and the first batch of "Internet + Education" demonstration schools in Ningxia. It has won the "National Outstanding Contribution Award for the Training of High-skilled Talents", "Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Excellent School Award", "National Civilized Unit" and other honorary titles, and won 3 second prizes for national teaching achievements and 1 "National Skill Master Studio". The Engineering Technology Research Center for the Development and Utilization of Chinese Medicinal Materials was selected as the second batch of talent highland construction units in the autonomous region. In December 2019, the school stood out from more than 1,400 higher vocational colleges across the country, advanced into the first echelon of vocational education in my country, and was successfully selected as one of the top 56 high-level higher vocational schools with Chinese characteristics. There are 2 national high-level professional groups, 3 national demonstration majors supported by the central government, 2 national professional service industry development capacity enhancement project majors, and 23 "1+X" certificate system pilot majors. The school currently has 9,346 full-time students (including 7,194 higher vocational students and 2,152 secondary vocational students). The employment rate of graduates after six months has remained above 95%, and the quality of employment has improved year by year. The vast majority of graduates have grown into professional and technical backbones of industries and enterprises. The school's distance open education section: Ningxia Open University is the Ningxia branch of the National Open University and the supporting unit of the Ningxia Lifelong Education Credit Bank. It currently has 3 branches, 8 campuses, 11 TVU workstations and teaching sites, and 2 learning centers. There are 21 open education undergraduate majors, 45 junior college majors, and 20 adult junior college majors. The school has built an open education learning experience center with big data platform and VR practice as the core, an open education learning platform, and the Ningxia Community Education Experience and Exhibition Center. It has held two consecutive Ningxia National Learning Activity Weeks and was approved to become a member of the National Learning Achievements Recognition Alliance. The school deepened the linkage between the school and the local area, and jointly built "one school and four centers" with the Jinfeng District Party Committee and Government to provide guarantees for lifelong learning for community residents. Since the founding of Ningxia Radio and Television University in 1979, a total of 143,799 graduates of higher education of various types have been trained.
