North China Institute of Aerospace Technology (formerly North China Institute of Aerospace Technology) is a full-time public general college organized by the People's Government of Hebei Province, co-built by the provincial government and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. It is a master's degree-granting institution approved by the State Council Academic Degree Committee, a model school for transformation and development of undergraduate colleges in Hebei Province, a model school for party building, and a model school for innovation and entrepreneurship reform, and the president unit of the Hebei Applied Technology University Research Association and the president unit of the Aerospace Applied Technology University Alliance. The school is located in Langfang City, Hebei Province. It was founded in 1978 and was successively affiliated to the Eighth General Administration of Machinery Industry, the Seventh Ministry of Machinery Industry, the Ministry of Aerospace Industry, the Ministry of Aerospace Industry, and the China Aerospace Corporation. In 1999, it was transferred to Hebei Province and implemented a management system of "co-construction by the central and local governments, with local management as the main focus". Academician Sun Jiadong, a meritorious "two bombs and one satellite", a famous launch vehicle and satellite technology expert, and a winner of the National Highest Science and Technology Award and the "Medal of the Republic", is the honorary president of the school. The school covers an area of nearly 1,000 acres, divided into the East Campus, West Campus and Gu'an Campus in Langfang City, with a current building area of more than 400,000 square meters and an area under construction of more than 110,000 square meters.
