The Armored Forces Academy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was formerly known as the Bengbu Tank Academy. It was established in Suxian County, Anhui Province in 1978 and was called the Tank School of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It moved to Bengbu City, Anhui Province in 1982 and was renamed the Bengbu Tank Academy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in September 1986. It is an academy that trains junior command officers for the armored forces of the entire army. It is located at the foot of Yanshan Mountain in Bengbu City, Anhui Province, on the banks of the Huai River. The academy has three training levels: a 4-year undergraduate class, a 3-year college class, and a 2-year technical secondary school class. The academy has a computer-monitored teaching command center, a teaching laboratory building, an electrical teaching building, a simulation building and a library, which provide conditions for supporting teaching. The academy's teaching and living facilities are reasonably equipped. 26 laboratories can complete more than 60 experiments in physics, chemistry, electronics, mechanics, computers and other courses. The large training ground provides an ideal place for annual student training and graduation comprehensive tactical exercises. The library has a collection of more than 100,000 books.
