Puyang Petrochemical Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public higher vocational college approved by the Henan Provincial People's Government and registered with the Ministry of Education. It is also the only petrochemical higher vocational college in our province. Its predecessor is Zhongyuan Petroleum School, a national key general technical secondary school established in 1984. The school has trained tens of thousands of professional and technical talents for large enterprises and institutions such as Sinopec, China National Petroleum Corporation, and CNOOC. On June 29, 2020, the unveiling ceremony of Puyang Petrochemical Vocational and Technical College was held, kicking off the new development of the college. The establishment of the college has filled the gap in petrochemical higher vocational education in Henan Province and is of great significance to promoting the development of higher education in Puyang. It has provided strong talent guarantee and intellectual support for Puyang to accelerate the construction of new chemical bases and promote the high-quality development of the petrochemical industry. The current campus of the college covers an area of more than 360 acres, with a building area of more than 70,000 square meters, a total value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment of 18 million yuan, a library with a collection of more than 160,000 books, and complete laboratories and training rooms on campus. It has signed agreements with large enterprises such as Sinopec Zhongyuan Oilfield and Zhongyuan Ethylene to build multiple internship and training bases. On November 9, 2021, the college's new campus project broke ground, marking the college's new journey. The new campus is located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Subei Road and Lanhai Road, only 1 km away from Puyang East Station of Jizheng High-speed Railway, and is in the core area of the high-speed railway area. The new campus covers a total area of 1,047 acres, with a total construction area of nearly 400,000 square meters and an enrollment of 15,000 students. It is planned to be implemented in batches and phases. Currently, the first phase of the project covers an area of 620 acres, with an estimated investment of 1.059 billion yuan, a construction area of 147,000 square meters, and an enrollment of 5,000 students. The new campus is expected to be put into use in the fall of 2023, and will complete the goal of creating a “campus of a thousand acres and a university of ten thousand people” by 2025. The new campus has forward-looking planning, beautiful environment, a fully functional smart campus network, modern educational facilities and a complete logistics support system. It is a new landmark of Puyang City. Under the careful guidance of the Ministry of Education and Sinopec, the school found coordinates and acupoints from the national university setting and industrial development, and found characteristics from the top-level design of serving the national petrochemical industry and building a national characteristic vocational college, and made it clear that "building a national higher education institution" The goal is to become a "famous school with characteristics of vocational education"; the overall layout of the two-stage strategic tasks has been to build a national famous school for vocational colleges and a national famous school for vocational undergraduates; it has planned and established 13 secondary colleges and 67 majors. At present, the school is focusing on building three national-level characteristic high-level professional groups of oil and gas engineering, modern chemicals and materials engineering, and building six provinces of new energy (hydrogen energy), green biology, low-carbon environmental protection, electromechanical equipment and automation, and modern logistics.
