Qiannan Normal University for Nationalities is located in Duyun, the capital of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, and an excellent tourist city in China. It is the first local university in Guizhou Province to be upgraded to a university approved by the Ministry of Education in March 2000. The school's history can be traced back to 1952. In 2011, it was approved to become a postgraduate training unit for master's degree in education. In 2012, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to become a demonstration centralized training project institution for the "National Training Program for Primary and Secondary School Teachers". In 2014, it joined the National Alliance of Applied Technology Universities (Colleges) and became one of the 20 transformation and development case universities of the Ministry of Education. At the same time, it was identified by the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education as a pilot school for transformation and development into an applied university and a "Guizhou Minority Preparatory Education Base". In 2016, it was selected as one of the 100 national schools supported by the "Vocational Education Industry-Education Integration Project Planning Project". In 2017, the school passed the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education with "high level and characteristics". In 2018, it was awarded the sixth batch of "National Demonstration Units for the Creation of National Unity and Progress" and was selected as one of the 19 pilot schools for the "AI+Smart Learning" co-construction of the Artificial Intelligence College Project by the Ministry of Education. In 2020, it was approved as the seventh batch of talent bases in Guizhou Province and the tenth batch of national professional and technical personnel continuing education bases. In 2021, it was approved as the Rural Revitalization Research Center of Guizhou Province's Colleges and Universities, and was approved by the Ministry of Education's "Central Special Lottery Public Welfare Fund Hongzhi Navigation Plan-National College Graduate Employment Ability Training Base". In 2022, it became a key support institution for the Ministry of Education's collaborative quality improvement plan for teacher education. The school covers an area of 1,415 acres, with a total school building area of 486,900 square meters. The campus environment is elegant, quiet and beautiful, integrating practicality, multifunctionality, nationality and modern characteristics; the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is more than 130.8 million yuan, and the total number of paper books and documents in the library is 1.425 million, and the total number of electronic books is 3.876 million. The school focuses on teacher education and steadily develops non-teacher education; it offers graduate education, undergraduate education, ethnic minority preparatory education, and international student education, forming distinctive characteristics of normal, ethnic, local, and applied education. The school currently has 16 secondary colleges, including the School of Literature and Media, and 55 undergraduate majors, including 5 national first-class majors: preschool education, Chinese language and literature, English, biotechnology, and social work; 10 provincial first-class majors: chemistry, mathematics and applied mathematics, physical education, primary education, software engineering, fine arts, physics, geography, music, and agricultural and forestry economic management; there are two first-class disciplines in Guizhou Province, "mathematics" and "Chinese language and literature", and 11 provincial key and key support disciplines, including education, traditional ethnic sports, applied chemistry, English language and literature, and computer application technology. The 55 undergraduate majors offered belong to the ten major disciplines of literature, science, education, law, economics, history, management, engineering, art, and agriculture. There are 15 professional directions (fields) for master's degree enrollment in education, and 14,000 undergraduate and graduate students. There are more than 1,100 faculty and staff, including more than 800 full-time teachers, more than 550 full-time teachers with senior professional titles, more than 170 master's tutors, and the proportion of master's and doctoral teachers is more than 80%. There are 42 national, provincial, and departmental teaching, scientific research, and engineering center platforms and a number of national and provincial research bases. The school's undergraduates are open to 28 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country, and minority classes and minority preparatory courses are only enrolled in Guizhou Province. For candidates who are admitted to our school for the first time through parallel volunteer applications and have excellent college entrance examination scores, the school will provide scholarships after admission. Approved by the Ministry of Education, our school cooperates with the Free Academy of Fine Arts of Florence, Italy to organize an undergraduate education program in product design, implements the "3+1" training model, and starts recruiting students for the "Product Design (Sino-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools)" program in 2023. In order to implement the Ministry of Education's new era basic education teacher strengthening plan and provide talent guarantee for the industrialization development of our province, our school continues to implement the "Excellent Rural Teachers Program" and "Excellent Engineers Program". According to the provincial decision-making and deployment, from 2022, our school will be responsible for the preparatory education of our school and Anshun College, Guizhou Engineering and Applied Technology College, Liupanshui Normal University, Tongren College, and Xingyi National Normal College. The school will be located in our Dushan campus (Guizhou Minority Preparatory Education Base). The school makes full use of the resources of domestic and foreign universities and research institutes, and actively carries out various forms of cooperative education such as teacher exchange, student exchange, professional co-construction, and Sino-foreign cooperation. There are counterparts such as East China Normal University, Central China Normal University, Guangzhou University, Nanjing Normal University, Changzhou University, and Guizhou University; and implement the "Thousands of Overseas Study" plan with Southeast Asian universities. Every year, 30 students are sent to Guangzhou University and Guizhou University for exchange studies. Starting from 2023, 10-50 students will be sent to Central China Normal University, Nanning Normal University, and Changzhou University for exchange studies. In recent years, the school has trained more than 100 international students from the United States, South Korea, Thailand and other countries, and sent more than 200 students to Thailand, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong for exchange studies. In the past five years, the employment rate of undergraduate graduates has been above 94%, and the employment rate of graduate graduates has been above 98%.
