Qianxinan Vocational and Technical College for Nationalities is a public comprehensive full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Provincial People's Government in January 2004. It was established by merging five technical secondary schools in Qianxinan Prefecture, namely Agricultural School, Hydropower School, Agricultural Mechanization School, Finance and Trade School, and Health School. In October 2008, Qianxinan National Administrative School was merged into the college. The college covers an area of 644.5 acres, and the building area of the school building is nearly 155,000 square meters. There are 466 faculty members, including 1 second-level professor, 12 professors, 109 associate professors, 168 masters and doctors (including those studying), 2 provincial vocational education teachers, 3 state-level experts, 5 state-level scientific and technological talents, 11 state-level agricultural experts, 1 domestic visiting scholar of "Young Backbone Teachers", 1 visiting scholar of "Light of the West", 4 visiting scholars of "Light of Jiaxiu", and more than 11,370 full-time students. The college focuses on promoting the construction of six characteristic backbone majors, namely animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, construction engineering technology, computer network technology, tourism management, rehabilitation therapy technology, and nursing. It also builds four characteristic backbone professional groups, namely construction engineering technology, tourism management, traditional Chinese medicine health care, and nursing, around the characteristic backbone majors. It currently offers 25 higher vocational majors, 3 secondary vocational majors, and 1 technician major. Among them: 3 provincial backbone majors, 1 provincial key professional group, 2 provincial excellent teaching teams, 4 provincial quality courses, 30 college-level quality online open courses, 15 ideological and political projects, and more than 15 practical courses developed in cooperation with industry enterprises. The college has 86 professional training laboratories, including provincial nursing open training base, national physician qualification examination practical skills test base, medical training center, life science museum, rehabilitation therapy technology training room, mechatronics training room, tourism hotel training room, construction engineering training room, e-commerce training room, characteristic Chinese herbal medicine planting and testing training public training platform, mountain ecological agriculture open training base, automobile comprehensive training room, and 101 off-campus training bases. Since its establishment, the college has provided more than 40,000 secondary and higher vocational graduates to the society, and the "double certificate rate" of graduates has reached 90%; the implementation rate of graduates' initial graduation destinations is higher than the provincial average, and the satisfaction of graduates with their alma mater and the satisfaction of employers with the college's school quality have reached more than 90%. In recent years, the college has focused on industrial technology research and development and the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements. It has obtained 158 scientific research projects at the prefecture and city level or above, obtained 10 invention patents, 58 utility model patents, and completed the transformation and promotion of 5 patent results. The faculty and staff have published 1,179 academic papers, including 87 core journals. 21 projects have been approved by the provincial quality improvement project, the action plan for the prosperity of Guizhou and the action plan for the enrichment of the people, and the "Skill Guizhou" action plan. In 2023, teachers and students won 84 awards in provincial and above skill competitions, including 1 national first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, 1 winning prize, 17 provincial second prizes, and 60 third prizes. Won 1 national first prize in the 6th National College Students' Public Ideological and Political Course Competition, 1 national second prize in the 2022-2023 Belt and Road and BRICS Skill Development and Technology Innovation Competition, 2 silver medals and 10 bronze medals in the 9th "CCB Cup" "Internet +" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, 1 second prize in the 5th National Veterinary Clinical Young Teachers' Teaching Ability Competition, 1 first prize in the Ideological and Political Theory Course Teaching Demonstration of Guizhou Province's Colleges and Universities, and 1 second prize and 1 third prize in the Guizhou Province Teaching Ability Competition.
