The school is located in Zibo City, Shandong Province, the birthplace of the long-standing Qi culture. Its predecessor was Shandong Wanjie Medical College. It is a full-time general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. It is now affiliated to Shandong Commercial Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Lushang Group), a state-owned enterprise in Shandong Province, and is a "state-owned public college" in the category of social forces. The school was founded in 1995. In 1999, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to establish the private Shandong Wanjie Medical College. In 2008, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college-Shandong Wanjie Medical College. In 2015, it was renamed Qilu Medical College. It is currently a project support unit for the construction of applied undergraduate colleges in Shandong Province. The school covers a total area of 1,875 acres and a total construction area of 599,900 square meters. There are 12 secondary colleges (departments) including the School of Clinical Medicine, the School of Pharmacy, the School of Nursing, and the School of Stomatology, with 21,529 undergraduate and junior college students. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 211 million yuan, and the total number of paper books in the library is 2.0072 million, and the total number of electronic resources is 4.3454 million. The school has 2 directly affiliated hospitals, 10 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and 148 off-campus internship and training bases. The school currently has 32 undergraduate majors, including clinical medicine, pharmacy, health services and management, covering five major disciplines of medicine, engineering, management, economics, and science. There is currently 1 national comprehensive reform pilot major, 10 provincial first-class professional construction points, advantageous and characteristic majors, 6 brand majors of universities in Zibo, and 24 provincial first-class courses and boutique courses. A discipline and professional layout with medicine as the main and multi-disciplinary coordinated development has been formed. In 2015, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2021, the clinical medicine major successfully passed the clinical medicine major certification of the Ministry of Education, which is valid for five years. In the same year, the school was approved as a project construction unit of Shandong Province's applied undergraduate colleges. In 2023, the school successfully completed the new round of undergraduate education and teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education as one of the three pilot universities in Shandong Province. The school currently has 1,382 faculty and staff, including 1,066 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 776 have master's and doctoral degrees, accounting for 72.8%, and 393 have associate senior titles or above, accounting for 36.87%; there are 578 "dual-qualified" teachers and 14 part-time master's tutors. There are currently 2 academician workstations, 1 expert workstation for national key talent projects, 2 provincial teaching teams, 1 provincial teaching master, and 2 members of the Shandong Provincial Undergraduate Education and Teaching Steering Committee. The school has been approved by the Ministry of Education for 18 industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects, and has established 7 municipal-level industrial colleges such as the Digital Stomatological Industry College and the Health Management Industry College, and has obtained 11 school-city integration projects in Zibo City. A talent training system for the development of medical and educational collaboration and industry-education integration has been established. In recent years, the school has undertaken 210 teaching and scientific research projects of various levels and types, including national and provincial natural science foundations, including 63 provincial projects such as national and provincial natural science foundations, 15 national industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects, and 110 provincial teaching and research reform projects. The school has won 110 provincial and municipal teaching and scientific research achievement awards, including 1 second prize of Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize and 2 second prizes of Shandong Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. More than 700 papers have been published, including 46 papers included in SCI and EI, and 130 papers in core journals; 24 patents have been applied for and 17 have been authorized. The school has obtained 14 basic capacity building and improvement projects for private colleges and universities in Shandong Province and 11 school-city integration projects in Zibo City, and has obtained a total of more than 35 million special funds from the provincial and municipal finances. In 2020, the new species of Pseudo-dark-disk fungi discovered by the school's microbial research team was recognized by the International Gene Bank. The new species is the 12th in the world and the third in China. In the past three decades, the school has trained more than 70,000 undergraduate and junior college graduates for the country, creating an applied talent training brand that "can go down, can be used, and can be retained." The school has been awarded the title of "Excellent Project Office" of the National College Student Volunteer Service Western Plan by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League twice. It is the only private college in the province to receive this honor. The school has successively won the "China Private Education Innovation and Development Contribution Award" and "Shandong Private Undergraduate Talent Training Characteristic School". In 2020, it was rated as a provincial enterprise civilized unit, and in the same year it was selected as a selection and training unit for public medical students in Shandong Province.
