Qingdao Ocean Shipping Vocational College was founded in 1976. It is located at No. 1166, Haijun Road, Huangdao District, Qingdao City. It is located at the foot of Dazhu Mountain and the bank of Lingshan Bay. It is a state-owned public college with distinctive school characteristics, first-class education quality and profound cultural heritage. It integrates academic education, on-the-job training and scientific and technological research and development. The college is affiliated to China Ocean Shipping Group Co., Ltd., and its educational administration is affiliated to Shandong Province. It is a higher vocational college that recruits students from all over the country. The college was formerly known as Qingdao Maritime School. In 1980, it was approved by the Ministry of Communications to be changed into an adult college and renamed "Qingdao Ocean Shipping Vocational College". In 1983, it was approved by the Ministry of Communications to be renamed "Qingdao Ocean Shipping Vocational College". In 2010, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be rebuilt into a general higher vocational college and renamed "Qingdao Ocean Shipping Vocational College". In 2015, it successfully passed the acceptance of the Shandong Province Skilled Talent Training Characteristic Famous School Construction Project organized by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education and the Department of Finance. The new campus of the college was officially opened on September 29, 2021. The total land area is about 712 acres, the sea area is about 102 acres, and the planned total construction area is about 290,000 square meters. The land area of the first and second phase projects is about 572 acres, and the construction area is about 185,000 square meters. It has advanced equipment and facilities such as internationally advanced navigation control simulators and domestically leading engine simulators. The college currently has majors such as navigation technology, engine engineering technology, ship electronic and electrical technology, ship engineering technology, port and shipping management, and international cruise ship crew management. There are currently more than 2,000 students in academic education. Among them, there are 2 majors supported by the central government, 2 backbone majors of the Ministry of Education's Innovation and Development Action Plan, 6 provincial key majors, 2 provincial high-level professional groups, and 5 Qingdao key majors, forming a professional construction system at the national, provincial, and municipal levels. The college pays attention to the cultivation of teaching staff. Seven teachers have won provincial and ministerial honorary titles such as "Shandong Higher Education Teaching Master", five teaching teams have won the "Shandong Higher Education Provincial Teaching Team", one teacher presided over the "Shandong Vocational Education Master Studio", and two teachers presided over the "Shandong Vocational Education Skills and Skills Inheritance and Innovation Platform". All majors have set up enterprise order classes or modern apprenticeship classes. Shandong Donghong International Ship Management Co., Ltd. and Qingdao Intercontinental Shipping Group provide scholarships to the marine technology enterprise order classes every year. Five local enterprises, including Qingdao Dingshi International Freight Forwarding Co., Ltd., cooperate with the school to carry out the Qingdao Modern Apprenticeship Pilot Project in Port and Shipping Management, serving the key industrial chain of modern logistics in Qingdao. Qingdao Xinsanli Reefer Technology Co., Ltd. cooperates with the school to train talents in ship engineering technology, innovate the talent training model of "alternating work and study, double-teacher teaching, and on-the-job training", and cultivate high-tech skilled talents in the ship engineering industry to serve the advantageous industrial chain of Qingdao's marine equipment.
