Qingdao University is a key university in Shandong Province, a university jointly built by Shandong Province and Qingdao City, a high-level university in Shandong Province, and a university with high-level disciplines. The history of the school can be traced back to the Qingdao Special Higher School founded in 1909. In 1993, it was formed by the merger of the former Qingdao University, Shandong Textile Institute, Qingdao Medical College, Qingdao Normal College, etc. For more than a hundred years, the school has taught profound knowledge and cultivated great talents. We will give full play to the unique advantages and brand advantages of medical and teacher education disciplines, promote the city and school to jointly build Qingdao University Qingdao Medical College, and help Qingdao create a national regional medical center and build a first-class medical center city in the north of the Yangtze River. There are 38 provincial and ministerial key laboratories, engineering research centers, collaborative innovation centers, and humanities and social science research bases. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the school has undertaken 1,372 national projects such as the National Key R&D Program, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Social Science Foundation; published 22,628 papers included in SCI, 1,426 papers included in SSCI, and 1,463 papers included in CSSCI; won 1 second prize for national scientific and technological progress, 89 provincial and ministerial awards; and obtained more than 1,800 authorized patents. Two Confucius Institutes (classrooms) have been established abroad. There are 96 source countries for international students. The school is rooted in the land of Qilu and developed in Qingdao.
