Qinghai Vocational College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Science and Technology is the only higher vocational college of agriculture and animal husbandry in our province. Founded in September 1940, it was formerly known as the National Qinghai Primary Practical Vocational School. In May 1955, it was renamed Qinghai Huangyuan Animal Husbandry School, referred to as "Huangyuan Animal Husbandry School". The college was upgraded to a higher vocational college with the approval of the Provincial People's Government in April 2002. In August 2007, it became one of the 100 national exemplary higher vocational colleges. In February 2021, it was renamed Qinghai Vocational College of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Science and Technology. In May 2021, it was selected as the "National Excellent School for Rural Revitalization Talent Training". The college covers an area of 204,200 square meters and a construction area of 119,780 square meters. The discipline construction has established six departments and two divisions, namely the Department of Animal Science, the Department of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, the Department of Agricultural Economic Management, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Adult Education, the Basic Department, and the Ideological and Political Department. At present, it has 80 training rooms such as the Animal Nutrition and Feed Analysis Center and the Animal Disease Detection Center, and 4 on-campus internship bases such as the Livestock Breeding and Improvement Center and the Animal Hospital. There are 95 experimental training bases inside and outside the school, which has laid a solid foundation for all majors to vigorously carry out the "theory-practice integration" teaching model. There are 22 majors, covering six major categories: agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, electronic information, finance, tourism, public services, and culture and education. The college currently has 262 faculty members, 211 full-time and part-time teachers on campus, and 153 "double-teacher" teachers; among the full-time and part-time teachers on campus, there are 16 professors and 59 associate senior titles; 3 doctors (including 1 postdoctoral fellow), 69 teachers with master's degrees or above; 2 provincial and ministerial famous teachers, 1 top talent in the "Thousand Talents Plan for High-end Innovative Talents" of Qinghai Province, and 1 national model of teacher ethics. The college has always adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, based in Qinghai, serving the "three rural areas", focusing on the word "agriculture" to create characteristics, build brands, stabilize scale, and strive for efficiency. The development orientation has implemented open-style education, and has now formed a new multi-level, multi-specification, and multi-channel school-running pattern integrating higher vocational education, secondary vocational education, short-term training, and vocational skills appraisal. Over the past 80 years since its establishment, it has trained more than 30,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents who are "able to go down, use, retain, and have strong stamina" for the agricultural and pastoral areas of our province, forming the "Huangyuan Pastoral School Spirit" with "entrepreneurship, truth-seeking, and dedication" as its essence. The college has been awarded more than 60 honorary titles such as the "Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Excellent School Award", "National Model Unit for National Unity and Progress", "National Advanced Collective of National Education", "National Advanced Collective of Vocational Education", and "National Advanced Collective of Moral Education", becoming a shining pearl of modern vocational education on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
