Qinghai Vocational and Technical University is a full-time public undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education in May 2024. Its predecessor was Qinghai Communications Vocational and Technical College, which was founded in 1976. The school currently has two main teaching areas, Chengbei and Tong'an. The campus covers an area of 832 acres. The campus planning and layout are reasonable, the facilities are complete, the school conditions are first-class, and the campus environment is beautiful. There are more than 8,100 full-time students. The school has teaching units such as the School of Transportation, the School of Water Conservancy and Civil Engineering, the School of Information Management, the School of Chemical Engineering and Automation, the School of Energy Materials, the School of Ecological Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, the School of Public Education, and the School of Marxism. The school has successively built a national backbone higher vocational college, a national high-quality junior college higher vocational college, and a provincial "double high plan" college. It has won the honorary titles of Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Excellent School, National Vocational Education Advanced Collective 2 times, National Vocational College Service Contribution Top 50 3 times, and National General College Employment Advanced Collective. At present, the school has developed into an undergraduate-level vocational university with engineering as the main focus and coordinated development of engineering, management, agriculture and commerce. The majors cover 10 categories, including transportation, equipment manufacturing, electronics and information, and tourism. In 2024, the full-time undergraduate enrollment will include 6 majors, including computer application engineering, modern logistics management, automobile service engineering technology, intelligent application technology of railway locomotives, road and bridge engineering, and engineering cost. The full-time junior college enrollment will include 36 majors, including analysis and inspection technology, intelligent control technology, environmental monitoring technology, cloud computing technology application, energy storage material technology, and construction engineering supervision. One national-level boutique major, six national backbone majors, one national modern apprenticeship pilot major, and 14 provincial key majors have been built; one national online boutique course and 14 provincial boutique courses; one national vocational education virtual simulation demonstration training base, six national training bases, and 13 provincial key experimental training bases; three national high-skilled talent training bases and one Huawei Group "5G+ Digital Talent Industry-Education Integration Base". The school currently has 649 faculty members, including 455 full-time teachers, 47 professors, 99 associate professors, 26 doctors, 219 masters, and 218 "double-qualified" teachers. There is currently one national-level teaching innovation team, four "national excellent teachers", one person enjoying the special allowance of the State Council, six "Western Light" visiting scholars, nine provincial "135 high-level talents" training projects, one person in the Qinghai Province Thousand Talents Program for high-end innovative talents, seven "Kunlun Talents·Teaching Masters", six Qinghai Province Technical Experts, six Qinghai Province Excellent Teachers, and one young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions. The teaching team won two provincial first prizes for teaching achievements. The school fully implements the party's education policy, keeps in mind the original mission of educating people for the party and cultivating talents for the country, and deepens the reform of education and teaching. It has successively joined the Yellow River Basin New Energy Vehicle Industry-Education Integration Community, the National Digital Finance Industry-Education Integration Community, and the National Industrial Internet Industry-Education Integration Community. It actively cooperates with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Phoenix Group, Yellow River Hydropower, China Mobile, China Telecom, Qinghai Traffic Control Group, Qinghai Provincial Highway Bureau, Salt Lake Group, Qinghai-Tibet Railway Company, Hydropower Bureau No. 4, Qinghai Commodity Group and other enterprises and institutions to carry out in-depth industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, participate in professional construction, and jointly train talents. Since its establishment, it has trained more than 80,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents for economic and social development. In recent years, the implementation rate of graduates has remained above 90%, and students have won 196 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels or above, including 1 national special prize, 6 second prizes, and 21 third prizes. The school adheres to the policy of "promoting teaching by research and promoting learning by teaching" and continuously improves its scientific research capabilities. Three provincial key laboratories have been built, including the "Qinghai Province Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Highway Construction and Maintenance Key Laboratory", "Qinghai Province Green Transportation Disaster Prevention and Reduction and Digital Technology Key Laboratory", and "Qinghai Province Plateau Automobile Electrification and Intelligent Technology Key Laboratory". Eight innovation and development centers, including the Qinghai Internet of Things Technology Application Collaborative Innovation (Engineering) Center, and one industry-education alliance have been built. The Yucai Highway Survey and Design Co., Ltd. has been established as an on-campus productive internship and training base to jointly carry out technology research and development product upgrades and technical services. In the past five years, a total of 118 teaching and scientific research projects have been approved, including 1 national project and 33 provincial and ministerial projects. One second prize for scientific and technological progress in Qinghai Province has been won, 172 patents and software copyrights have been authorized, 9 local standards, 1 group standard, and 1 provincial construction method have been formulated, and the average annual funds received for horizontal technical services and training are nearly 50 million yuan, and the average annual non-academic training is more than 18,600 person-times.
