Quanzhou Huaguang Vocational College is a higher vocational college approved by the People's Government of Fujian Province, registered by the Ministry of Education, included in the national college entrance examination plan, and qualified to independently issue national academic certificates. The school is located in Quanzhou, a world cultural heritage city, a historical and cultural city, and the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road. It is located on the bank of the Luoyang Bridge, a world cultural heritage site. It is a garden-style institution of higher learning full of cultural and artistic atmosphere. As of November 2022, the school currently has one school and two campuses (Taiwan Business Campus and Hui'an Campus), covering an area of 871 acres, a school building area of 290,000 square meters, and more than 14,000 students of various types. The school has established 6 secondary colleges: School of Photography and Film Technology, School of Science and Technology and Engineering, School of Business, School of Education, School of Health Management, and School of Arts and Crafts; 3 departments: Public Basic Teaching Department, Ideological and Political Teaching Department, and Physical Education Department; 2 centers: Informatization and Training Center, Teacher Development Center; 6 research institutes: Classic Photography Institute, Shoe and Clothing Science Institute, Redesign Institute, Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Institute, Health and Aging Institute, and Intelligent Technology Application Institute; 158 on-campus experimental training bases and 211 off-campus training bases. The school currently has 2 national key majors in higher vocational education, 1 high-level professional group project construction in Fujian Province, 3 provincial professional groups, 2 high-quality majors in Fujian Province, and 2 demonstration majors in Fujian Province; 1 training base supported by the central government, 1 national productive training base for higher vocational education, 1 national dual-teacher base for higher vocational education, and 5 training bases supported by the Fujian Provincial Government; 1 pilot industrial college in Fujian Province; 1 excellent teaching team in Fujian Province, 1 national excellent teacher, 4 excellent teachers in Fujian Province, and 2 famous teachers in Fujian Province’s colleges and universities; 1 course was selected as the 2020 National Excellent Online Open Course (the only one in the province’s higher vocational colleges), 5 excellent courses in Fujian Province, and 7 online excellent open courses in Fujian Province; 5 provincial teaching reform achievement awards (including 2 first prizes); 8 modern apprenticeship pilot projects; 2 Quanzhou Skilled Teacher Studios, and 26 high-level talents in Quanzhou City. The school has been awarded the title of "Fujian Civilized School" for three consecutive years, and has won honorary titles such as "National Advanced Unit for Promoting School Development through Science and Technology", "Top Ten Well-known Private Brand Schools in China", and "Model Faculty and Staff Home of China's Famous Photography School". In 2017, it was awarded the "Xiang Education Unit" plaque by the Fujian Provincial People's Government. In 2019, it ranked 15th among the top 100 vocational colleges in the country in terms of the proportion of students starting their own businesses, and ranked first in Fujian Province.
