The Second Artillery Engineering University is located in Xi'an, a famous historical and cultural city and the ancient capital of 13 dynasties, about 20 kilometers from the city center. It is the only higher military college in my country that trains command and technical personnel for strategic missile forces, a key college of the whole army, and a key construction college of the military's "2110 Project". The school consists of three colleges (Science College, Junior Command College, Non-commissioned Officer Vocational and Technical Education College), 7 professional departments, 2 graduate management teams and several student brigades. Our school was originally a military college that trained junior command officers for ground artillery. In January 1951, Peng Dehuai, commander of the Northwest Military Region, and Xi Zhongxun, political commissar, signed an order to merge the Northwest Military Region Artillery Training Regiment and the First Field Army Field Artillery Regiment to reorganize the Northwest Military Region Artillery School. In March 1951, it was renamed the First Artillery School of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In August 1955, it moved to Xi'an. In February 1956, it was renamed the Xi'an Artillery School of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In order to break the nuclear blackmail and nuclear monopoly of Western powers, speed up the pace of forming my country's strategic missile forces, and first train my country's own missile talents, in June 1959, the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission decided that the school would end the ground artillery training mission, rely on the Xi'an Artillery School, and the training force of the Changxindian Artillery Teaching Brigade as the backbone, absorb some instructors and students from the 15th Air Force Aviation School, and transform it into a special artillery technical school. For the sake of confidentiality, the name of Xi'an Artillery School was used. On September 1, the first phase of engineering and technician students started school, marking the glorious birth of my country's first higher military school to train talents for strategic missile forces. In January 1963, it was renamed the Artillery Technical College of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In October 1969, it was transferred to the Second Artillery and renamed the Second Artillery Technical College in December. In August 1975, it was renamed the Second Artillery School. In January 1978, it was renamed the Second Artillery Technical College. In June 1986, it was renamed the Second Artillery Engineering College. In June 2011, it was rebuilt as the Second Artillery Engineering University. Since 1959, the school has trained and sent more than 30,000 graduates to the troops, among whom more than 100 have grown into generals. At present, the vast majority of the brigade commanders, chiefs of staff, chief engineers, and missile battalion and company commanders of the Second Artillery Missile Brigade are graduates of our school, becoming the backbone and backbone of the Second Artillery Force. The school's talent training goal: to cultivate key talents and future leaders of the strategic missile force.
