Sanming Medical Science and Technology Vocational College is a full-time comprehensive higher vocational college organized by the Sanming Municipal People's Government. Its predecessor was Sanming Vocational and Technical College established in May 2005. In September 2016, it was approved by the Fujian Provincial People's Government to be renamed. It is now a provincial demonstration school, a provincial civilized campus, and the first batch of 1+X vocational skill level certificate pilot colleges of the Ministry of Education. It has won the honorary titles of "National Model Workers' Home", Fujian Province's 5A-level "Safe Campus", Provincial Garden Unit, and Sanming City's "Safe Advanced Unit". 1. School conditions. The college has two campuses, Sanyuan and Ecological New City, covering an area of 800 acres and a school building area of 300,000 square meters. The Sanyuan campus is in front of Qilin Mountain City Park and backed by Xianren Valley National Forest Park. The urban greenway passes by the school. It once nurtured the origin of Fujian Normal University and is the birthplace of Sanming's higher education. The Ecological New City Campus is located in the Sanming Ecological Industry and Trade Zone in Haixi, with convenient transportation, intensive industries, and a public training base for vocational education with leading facilities and equipment. The college has built more than 100 on-campus training centers and nearly 200 off-campus internship and practice teaching bases, forming a complete teaching, scientific research and training system. 2. Professional construction. There are 45 enrollment majors in 4 major professional groups, including medicine and health, finance and trade, humanities education, and engineering design. Among them, there are 4 state-controlled majors, 2 national demonstration majors, and 9 provincial demonstration majors; 2 provincial production and education integration demonstration majors, 4 modern apprenticeship pilot majors, 2 service industry characteristic professional groups; 2 provincial high-level professional groups. There are 3 provincial industrial colleges, including Meiyuan Business, Guode Health Care, and Yongzhi Intelligent Manufacturing, and 2 municipal industrial colleges, including rural e-commerce and Qinqin Kangaroo Childcare. There are more than 14,000 full-time college students. 3. Faculty. There are more than 600 faculty and staff, including nearly 200 senior professional titles and nearly 300 "dual-qualified" teachers. In recent years, the college has undertaken more than 400 scientific research projects of various types, published more than 1,200 academic papers, developed more than 60 textbooks through school-enterprise cooperation, and obtained more than 80 national patents; won 1 special prize, 4 first prizes, and 4 second prizes in the Fujian Vocational Education Teaching Achievement Award; won 1 second prize and 1 third prize in the national competition of the Teacher Teaching Ability Competition, 15 first prizes and 20 second prizes in the provincial competition, and the total number of awards in 2023 ranked 7th among the higher vocational colleges in the province. 4. Quality of education. Adhere to the five-pronged education, especially focusing on the cultivation of job skills, professional ability and professional quality. Students in school won 24 national professional skills competition awards and 157 provincial awards (ranked 12th in the province in 2021). Innovation and entrepreneurship projects won 1 first prize and 1 second prize at the national level; 2 first prizes and 7 second prizes at the provincial level. The pass rate of the qualification examination for graduates of all previous years is higher than the national and provincial average, and the employment rate is stable at around 95%. Since its establishment, the college has trained more than 26,000 technical and skilled personnel. With their diligence, love of learning, and hard work, most of them have become technical experts and business backbones in all walks of life, and have been widely praised by employers. 5. Social services. Adhere to the school-running positioning of "comprehensive, local, employment-oriented, and characteristic", actively serve Sanming's "medical reform", and actively integrate into the construction of a high-quality development demonstration zone in the old revolutionary base area. Take the lead in establishing the Sanming Vocational College Alliance, undertake the construction of key projects such as the Sanming Municipal (provincial) Vocational Education Public Training Base, the Sanming Branch of the Chinese Academy of Pharmaceutical Industry, the Sanming Translational Medicine Research Institute, and the "Ming Bawei" Research Center. Established close cooperative relations with more than 150 industries, enterprises (units) such as major hospitals in the province, Hong Kong Sijia Group, Shanghai Muxizi Group, Fujian Sangang Group, Fuzhou Guode Elderly Care Group, and Sanming Meiyuan Hotel Management Group. It is a training base for civil servants in Fujian Province, a training base for police officers in the prison system, a training base for elderly care service talents, a training center for medical caregivers, an emergency rescue training base in Sanming City, and a popular science education base. It has carried out skill improvement training for more than 13,000 people at all levels and in all kinds of positions, which has been well received.
