Sanya University was founded in 2005 and is located in Sanya City, Hainan Province. It was funded by Geely Holding Group, a Fortune 500 company. The beautiful campus of Sanya College is ecologically safe, suitable for learning and living. It has been rated as one of the top ten ecological buildings in Hainan. It covers an area of 3,000 acres, with a total construction area of more than 500,000 square meters, and a total investment of more than 3 billion yuan. It has 15 colleges and 64 undergraduate majors (including professional directions), covering 9 disciplines such as economics, management, law, literature, education, art, engineering, science, and medicine. The school has modern teaching and living facilities such as a high-performance supercomputing center, a financial innovation and multi-asset intelligent trading laboratory, an artificial intelligence laboratory, a national art hall, a national medical hall, a standard swimming pool, and a golf training ground. The school also has three high-tech libraries with a total of more than 2.75 million books. In 2022, Sanya College's master's degree-granting unit and related degree authorization points passed the verification of the Ministry of Education, becoming the first private university in Hainan to grant a master's degree. The three professional master's degree authorization points in social work, tourism management, and electronic information have officially enrolled students in 2023. In 2015, the school passed the undergraduate teaching work qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education at one time. The school was rated by the Ministry of Education as a rare "double top 50" university unit in China and the only one in Hainan for employment and innovation and entrepreneurship. So far, the school has trained 14 consecutive graduates, and the rate of placement has always remained at the forefront of undergraduate colleges in the province. Since the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the "Overall Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port" in 2020, Sanya College has made forward-looking arrangements and responded quickly, continuously promoting the integrated path of "production, learning, research and application" and focusing on the construction of key disciplines in the fields of "digitalization of financial industry", "digitalization of automobile industry", "modern service industry", "urban governance" and "health care industry". The school looks forward to the development of the financial industry in the construction of the free trade port, and co-establishes the Saxo Financial Technology Business School with Saxo Bank of Denmark. It has been successively rated as a financial education demonstration base in Hainan Province, a member of the China Financial Technology Education and Application Innovation Alliance, and the first batch of "digital RMB" pilot units in the country; the school also co-established key laboratories such as the Industrial Internet with the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center to serve students' competitiveness with the results of discipline construction. Previously, Sanya College initiated the establishment of the Hainan Hotel Talent Training Innovation Alliance, and took the lead in establishing the two major industry talent training innovation alliances of exhibition economic management and tourism culture to accelerate the training of high-quality, application-oriented skilled talents at all levels in Hainan's key industries. In 2021, the Hainan Provincial Department of Education will support the construction of Sanya College's modern industry college into the annual work points. Focusing on the future needs of economic and social development, Sanya College continues to strengthen the construction of discipline innovation platforms and the introduction of "master-level" talents. At present, three academician workstations (academician innovation platforms) have been established, including Zhai Mingguo, Chen Guoliang, and Rong Chunming. The university invested 100 million yuan to build Hainan's first million-level supercomputer center, and its computing performance ranks among the top five universities in the country; the Financial Innovation and Multi-Asset Smart Trading Laboratory jointly built with Denmark's Saxo Bank was approved as the first batch of key laboratories of philosophy and social sciences in Hainan Province. The university also launched the "100 million yuan talent introduction plan" for the world, carried out the "double hundred plan" for doctoral students, the academic ability improvement plan for middle-level cadres, and the overseas study plan, etc., and continuously consolidated the foundation for career development. In recent years, relying on the academician workstation, supercomputing center and provincial key laboratories, the university has carried out high-level scientific research in marine science and technology, southern seed industry, environmental ecology, satellite remote sensing, health management, financial technology and other aspects, directly serving the national strategy and Hainan's development needs. Among them, the "Scientific Visualization Research on Multi-site Lander and Rover Submersible System" has been completed as a sub-project of the key R&D plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. The "Free Trade Port In and Out of the Island Logistics Control Simulation System" project was successfully completed and delivered to the Hainan Provincial Big Data Administration for use. "Multi-mode-multi-model ensemble simulation of the impact of climate change on rice yield in tropical areas-taking Hainan Province as an example" and other projects have been approved as National Natural Science Foundation projects. At present, the school has become the private university with the largest number of National Social Science Fund projects for six consecutive years, and has achieved the first breakthrough in the key projects of the National Social Science Fund. The total number of projects has ranked among the top 10% in the country among the applicants, including all universities and research institutes in the country. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Sanya College will continue to focus on research fields such as national governance, urban governance, big data and artificial intelligence, and financial technology, and become a regional scientific research highland with certain competitiveness. The college quickly responds to the iterative upgrade of digital social education and teaching models and the demand for higher-quality learning, and actively explores digital transformation and digital empowerment of education and teaching. By adding digital course teaching modules, building a virtual teaching and research room based on digital technology interdisciplinary majors, and making full use of high-quality online platforms such as Core Education, the school systematically carries out digital transformation of education, and cultivates digital professionals with digital skills teachers. In 2022, the school and the Central University of Finance and Economics will jointly build a virtual teaching and research room for financial technology majors to build a cross-regional and multi-level online teaching organization and realize the sharing of multi-form high-quality professional teaching and research resources. Based in Hainan Free Trade Port, the school highlights the socialization and internationalization of schooling and builds a multi-party collaborative platform. At present, the school has established high-level collaboration bodies with Peking University, Tsinghua University, Sanya Institute of Deep Sea Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China-Foreign Cultural Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education, China Law Society, Hainan Provincial Tourism and Culture Department, etc. The school has successfully joined hands with the School of Government Management of Peking University, and has successfully held three consecutive Luobifeng Global Urban Civilization and Urban Innovation Forums to jointly create an academic exchange brand with international influence. As the only private university in the country, the school's educational and teaching reform achievements and experiences were successfully selected as typical cases of the fifth national education reform and innovation together with the education reform cases of 13 other well-known domestic universities such as Fudan University and Beijing Normal University. In 2022, the China-Malaysia Future College, jointly established by Sanya College and SEGi University Malaysia, was unveiled simultaneously in China and Malaysia. The two sides integrated their advantageous resources, opened high-quality undergraduate, master's and doctoral degree courses, jointly built an international education platform, and explored a new talent training model that integrates undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees. From 2017 to 2022, the school successfully held four "China-ASEAN Private Higher Education Development and Cooperation Forums", launched the China-ASEAN Private University Alliance (ACAPHEI) with private universities in ASEAN countries, and was supported by the China-ASEAN Center and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEOWith the strong support of the RIHED and the China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week, the fourth forum also adopted the "Bangkok Declaration of the Alliance" and the "Five-Year Action Plan for the Next Five Years", and launched a flagship project for cross-border multi-campus exchanges. In the latest ranking of the China Alumni Association, Sanya College has ranked first among comprehensive private universities for two consecutive years since 2022. In 2019, Sanya College, as the only private university in China and the only university in Hainan, was featured in a special program "Education Power" by CCTV, which caused a strong response. In 2022, Sanya College won many honors in the annual education festival of influential Chinese media organizations such as China National Radio, International Online Education, Tencent, Sohu, and NetEase. Among them, it was rated as the "Annual Comprehensive Competitive Brand University" and "Annual Entrepreneurship and Employment Star College" by China National Radio; in the annual education ceremonies of Tencent and NetEase, it was respectively awarded the honorary title of "Industry Industry-Education Integration Characteristic Education Brand" and the 2022 Competitive Industry-Education Integration Education Brand.
